Alfred Eugene (Dude) Ausmus

Alfred Eugene (Dude) Ausmus was born April 27, 1934, at home in Kiefer, OK. He was the 5th child of seven born to Amo and Irene Ausmus. On June 18, 2026, the Lord walked him to his Heavenly home where he was united with his family and friends.

Dude graduated from Kiefer High School in 1952 and went to Conners State Jr. College on a football scholarship. He transferred to Sul Ross State University for 1 year and completed his Bachelor of Science degree at Northeastern State College. He was drafted into the US Army after graduation and was stationed in Panama for 2 years.

Dude had two sons from his 1st marriage, Andrew Milton and Jon Robert whom he loved very much.

Dude and Norma Jean Hall were married in November 1969. They liked attending OU football games, being members of the Elks Lodge, going to the lake and spending time with friends and family. They were married for 46 years when Norma Jean passed in May 2016.

In the summer of 1955, Dude played on the Sapulpa Brick and Tile softball team with his three brothers and was coached by his dad. They won the 1955 Softball World Championship tournament in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He played fastpitch softball in 13 World tournaments and was named an All American six times. He was inducted into the International Softball Congress Hall of Fame on August 8, 1987, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.

Dude loved to watch the OU football and softball teams, playgolf and dominoes. He read the newspaper daily to keep up with all sports events. He had a caring and compassionate heart, liked to make people laugh, and loved spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents Amo and Irene Ausmus, wife Norma Jean Ausmus, sons Andrew and Jon Ausmus, brothers John and Milton (Dutch) Ausmus.

He is survived by sisters Ethel Davis, Winnie (Susie) Romine and husband Gary, Winona (Babe) Miller and husband Cecil, brother Robert Ausmus, and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces, great-great nieces and nephews and cousins.

The family would like to thank the First Call of Tulsa for the care givers that provided excellent care and loving support for Dude that allowed him to be at home.

Visitation will be from 6-8 pm, Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at Traditions Funeral Chapel, 35 S Main, Kellyville, Oklahoma, 74039.

Services will be 1:00 pm, Thursday, June 25, 2026 at Traditions Funeral Chapel, 35 S Main, Kellyville, Oklahoma, 74039.
