IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alice Marie
Watashe
December 4, 1932 – December 16, 2020
Alice Marie Watashe left to be in the comfort of the Lord on December 16, 2020 at the age of 88. She was born December 4, 1932 to Dave Bruner and Senora Rogers at the family home.
She served as song leader at Community Indian Baptist Church as well as having a beautiful alto voice in the church choir. She also taught vacation bible school for many years, even had the blessing of teaching children on the Pima Reservation in Arizona through mission trips. She was also a charter member of the Circle of Nations Women's Ministry. After attending Drumright Technical School to become a Licensed Practical Nurse she worked in Central Service at St. Francis Hospital as a surgical scrub nurse and was also a technician, at what then was, Bartlett Memorial Hospital in Sapulpa. After obtaining her LPN license her loving compassionate care led her into private nursing to the homebound and bed-ridden or terminally ill.
Her whimsical character would surface as she would break into a little dance while listening to her favorite radio station. There were many times that she would spurt little tunes such as "How Much is That Doggy In the Window" to inspirational hymns that she led at church. We can know there's a distinct beautiful alto voice singing among the Heavenly choir today.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years James Watashe Jr.; sons Benjamin Watashe, Vincent Watashe and Lionel Watashe; grandchildren Charles Baker and Julia Watashe; great-grandsons David Jones and Kenai Tanner.
She is survived by daughters Elizabeth Baker, Teresa Locust, Paulette Shade, Justina Jones and Diana Wilson; son Douglas Watashe; sister Darlene Pierce; brother Daniel Bruner; stepsiblings Loretta Freeman, Gano Perez and Ocie Perez; 21 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2:00pm, Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Traditions Funeral Chapel in Kellyville, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Watashe Family Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Traditions Funeral and Cremation Services, 35 S. Main, Kellyville, Oklahoma, 918-247-7373.
