IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Annie Ruth
Davis
October 9, 1938 – January 16, 2023
Annie Ruth Mounce Davis was born on October 9, 1938 in Paynes, Mississippi. She departed this earthly life on January 16, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. It was a precious week of family time just prior to her heavenly flight.
Ruth gave her heart to Jesus at the age of 7. She loved the Lord very much and those around her began to see many musical gifts and talents. As she grew in her faith, Ruth began to play the piano by ear, sing with her brother and was influenced by many styles of music. Her musical talent flourished while attending church with her family. During her teen years, the Lord provided opportunities for her to sing on local radio programs as well as serving on an evangelistic ministry team with her brother, Eddie.
The family left the Mississippi Delta when Ruth was a teenager and moved to the plains of West Texas. There she was very active in Pampa High School choir, a church women's trio and once again involved in many Sunday morning radio programs. Her life continued to be all about serving Jesus and singing Gospel music.
While on a multi-state summer evangelistic tour with her brother, she met the love of her life in California, Wallace Davis. As a result, their marriage led them to serve God while raising a family and endeavoring to share the Gospel. They were married for almost 60 years. Wallace went to be with the Lord in August of 2018.
Ruth was a minister's wife, talented singer and musician. Being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother brought her great joy. She was a follower of Christ who devoted time, effort and much love to the sharing of the Gospel. Those who knew her called her a friend, trusted confidant and prayer warrior. She was always kind, gentle and loving. Her home was filled with a true welcome, southern home-cooking and inspiring music.
Ruth has lived out her last days praying and reading God's word in southeastern Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband and her parents, Myrtis and John Mounce.
This precious child of God is survived by her devoted brother Eddie Mounce and his wife, Genelle. In addition, her children – Karen Davis, Lisa Davis Merrell and her husband Jason Merrell; Michael Davis and his wife Regan Davis. She has been blessed with wonderful grandchildren (terrific spouses) and great grandchildren. Nate Merrell, Anna Moffett, Landon Davis, Kathryn Miller, Avery Davis, Aubrey Davis, Will Merrell, Isaac Davis, Noah Merrell, Mari Davis, Jay Moffett, Bethany Moffett, Fern Merrell, Everly Merrell, Eden Merrell, Wesley Moffett and Goldie Merrell.
