October 7, 1930 – April 7, 2023
On April 7, 2023, Bobby Gene Hoover Sr. crossed over to stroll through heaven with his Lord and the one true love of his life and wife of 71 ½ years, Shirley Tifft.
Bob was born on October 7, 1930, in El Reno, Oklahoma. He was the youngest surviving child of Martin Van Buren Hoover and Alice Mae Sherman.
As a child, Bobby traveled through several states helping his family as migrant farm laborers where he developed his strong work ethic and his love of family.
Bob and Shirley were married on January 6, 1951, later joined by one daughter and one son. Bob had many occupations in Oklahoma and California. He worked at Wickhams Packing Plant, Bennett's Dairy, Douglas Aircraft, as an Oilfield worker, Manchester Tank, Sweco Oil Services, owner of Hoover Welding Services and McDonald Douglas/Boeing Aircraft Co. Bob retired in 1995 living in Bakersfield, California for the next 26 years before Shirley's death.
Bob loved country and gospel music, singing, guitar, Jew's harp and harmonica.
He especially loved entertaining not only his own kids and grandkids but all the children he met. He was easygoing, loved to tinker and repair anything he could, and he loved to help others in whatever way he could.
He is preceded in death by his wife Shirley, his parents, five brothers, three sisters, a great grandson, and a host of other relatives and friends.
He is survived by two children, Daniel & Vicky Rodriguez of Bakersfield, California, Bobby Hoover Jr. of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and four great- great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 12, 2023, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, and Funeral Service will be 10:00 am, Thursday, April 13, 2023, both at the Traditions Funeral Chapel in Kellyville.
Arrangements are under the direction of Traditions Funeral and Cremation Services, 35 S. Main, Kellyville, 918-247-7373.
