Bobby Joe Riggs, 71, passed away on February 16, 2025 in Sand Springs, Ok. He was born on July 24, 1953, in Stroud, Ok to Merritt E. Riggs and Opal May Riggs (Wilson).

He was a man of few words, quiet strength, and a love for a cold drink. He lived life on his own terms, was hardworking by nature, and worked until he was forced to retire in 2022. He married Rebecca Rinke in 1979, with whom he had a son. Some years later, after his divorce, his daughter was born. He had several companions over the years, such as Sandy and Jackie, whom he deeply loved and cared for.

Born an only child, Bobby learned early on to be independent. He was never one to ask for help. Losing his parents too soon shaped the man he became—resilient, self-reliant, funny, and fiercely stubborn. He was a simple man who found joy in the little things: fried chicken, a classic rock song on the radio, a cold beer in hand, and a day spent at the lake. He had a deep passion for Dodge cars and could talk about them for hours. But above all, he loved his children, especially his grandchildren, and the friends who became like family to him .

He leaves behind his son, Robert Riggs of Afton, Ok; his daughter, Rachel Waltrip, and son-in-law, Nick Waltrip; and his grandchildren: Ryder, Ryatt, River, and Rosemary Waltrip. He is also survived by his cousin, Patricia Shirley, and her husband, as well as numerous cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Opal and Merritt, numerous aunts and uncles, and his granddaughter, Ruby Jade Waltrip.

Though we mourn his loss, we find comfort in knowing he's at peace, maybe listening to his favorite rock tunes and cruising the open road.

Visitation will be from 6-8pm, Monday, February 24, 2025, at Traditions Funeral Chapel in Kellyville. Services will be 3pm, Tuesday, February 25, 2025, also at Traditions Funeral Chapel.
