IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bobby Gene
Tifft
October 3, 1934 – June 21, 2023
Bob Tifft passed away peacefully June 21, 2023, at the age of 88. A memorial service will be held Monday, July 10, 2023, 10:00 a.m. at Traditions Funeral Home, 35 Main Street, Kellyville, Oklahoma.
Bobby Gene Tifft arrived in this world in 1934, the third of ten rambunctious children born to MaeBelle and Louis Tifft. He grew up in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, moving to California in the early 50's. He was a handsome young man, and he knew it! He proudly served in the United States Air Force. (You should have seen him in a uniform!) Upon leaving the service, he settled and worked in the Long Beach area of California, eventually retiring from the Los Angeles County Transit System.
Referred to by his many friends as "By-Golly-Bob", he enjoyed nothing more than playing a good game of dominoes or gin rummy or dancing the night away to great country music. He could be cantankerous one minute and loving the next. His sister compares him to a "roasted marshmallow" - "crusty on the outside and warm and gooey on the inside."
Not long after his retirement, Bob returned to his hometown of Sapulpa, where he met and married the love of his life, Ellen Ann Williams. They enjoyed many years together until her untimely death in 2019.
He is survived by Ellen's children, Lesley Donohue, John Long, Steven Koyn and Robert Koyn, whom he loved and was blessed to have in his life; siblings Matilda 'Til' Gregory, Mary Jo Moss, Della Helsey, Jerry Tifft, William Tifft, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents MaeBelle and Louis Tifft; his sisters Shirley Hoover and Marjorie 'Carolyn' Reynolds; and his brothers James Robbins and Richard Tifft.
"By-Golly-Bob" will be missed by his family and friends.
Arrangements are under the direction of Traditions Funeral and Cremation Services, 35 S. Main, Kellyville, 918-247-7373.
