Camelia Edwards, born on September 14, 1948, in Kentucky, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her life was a testament to dedication, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to service, leaving behind a legacy that will be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Born into the Roark family, Camelia was the daughter of the late Ernest and Alice Roark. She was predeceased by her sister Phillys and nephew Riley Shane. Throughout her extended family and community, her memory is cherished deeply. She is survived by her devoted son, Shane Edwards, and his wife Kathy, who continue to carry forward her spirit. Camelia’s heart full of love found joy in her role as grandmother to Madasyn and William Edwards, whose lives she touched. She also leaves behind her brothers, Ernest (Ed) Roark and Riley Roark, as well as her sisters Diana Navalta, Rhonda Yates, and Madeline (Bea) Curtis, and her husband Mickey. The presence of nieces and nephews adds to the enduring family circle she so lovingly nurtured.
Camelia dedicated herself for two decades before retiring from the Tulsa Fire Department as a 911 operator, a role in which she exhibited extraordinary calm and resolve under pressure. Her exemplary service earned her an award from the mayor and the distinguished honor of being invited to the Governor’s Dinner. Beyond these accolades and more, she gained attention with her appearance on the television program Rescue 911, where her professionalism was showcased to a wider audience. In addition to her invaluable work with emergency services, Camelia was a certified nursing assistant, further embodying her lifelong commitment to caring for others before retiring from that career.
Outside of her professional and familial commitments, Camelia was an active member of the Irish Club, celebrating her heritage and enriching her community through cultural engagement. She delighted in sewing, a pastime that reflected her meticulous nature and creative soul. Her warm and generous spirit was visible in every stitch, every gesture, and every conversation she shared.
Camelia Edwards possessed a caring and compassionate heart, ever willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her kindness was a beacon of light, and her unwavering devotion to family and friends left an indelible mark on all their lives. She was deeply loved, and the void left by her passing will be profoundly felt.
As we reflect on Camelia’s remarkable life, we remember a woman whose legacy is woven with love, courage, and service. Her contributions to her community and family stand as milestones of a life well lived. She will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her, a shining example of the power of kindness and dedication.
Services will be Tuesday, May 5th at 2:00 pm at Traditions Funeral Chapell in Kellyville. There will be a visitation on Monday, May, 4th, from 6-8pm, at Traditions Funeral Chapel in Kellyville.
