IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carmetta Sue
Bruce
October 8, 1955 – September 11, 2023
Carmetta Sue Bruce, 67, of Newby, Oklahoma joined her Savior in Glory on September 11th, 2023. She was born October 8th, 1955, to Stanley and Juanita Plum.
Carmetta is survived by her husband Don, son Cody, and granddaughter Lorelei; by sisters Gail Britt, Janice Rains, Lorella Plum, Jo Carol Smith, Dorene Pebsworth, and Annetta Caldwell; and by brother David Plum. She is preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Juanita Plum, her sisters Faye Plum and Francis Plum, and by her brother Wayne Plum.
Carmetta was a graduate of Bristow High School and worked steadfastly in a number of jobs over the years before marrying Don Bruce in 1980. Carmetta later became a dedicated and loving mother and managed the 3B Ranch for the remainder of her life, rejoicing in the charms and challenges of simple country living.
Carmetta was a wonderful enigma, drawing on her mountain of faith to admonish and lovingly counsel friends and family in accordance with scriptural truth while also standing firm in her unshakable beliefs and delivering unvarnished truth drawn from her own steadfast resolve. She was both loving and strong, possessing a vitality of spirit which fueled her remarkable worth ethic that led her to match men stroke-for-stroke, whether she be hauling hay, cutting wood, or breaking horses.
Carmetta held a special love for children and was the adopted matriarch of many members of the local community. She was endlessly giving and offered her hospitality generously, doling out pitchers of sweet tea from her own front porch. She shared her love of the outdoors, fine paint horses, smart border collie cow dogs, and the testimony of her faith with all of those blessed to meet her.
Carmetta was a paragon of Godly and country virtues who's like is all-too-rare in the world. She stood for the Gospel truth, earnestness in words, the virtue of labor, the joy of charity, and the celebration of simple pleasures. She left an indelible impact on every person that met her and remains in their most cherished memories.
