Obituary

Cheryl Eileen Brashear, aged 73, was carried by the angels to her eternal home in the early hours of September 27 th , 2021, at her home in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Cheryl was born November 16 th , 1947 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Paul Edwin Thompson and Reldine Marie Thompson.

The happiest and most important day of Cheryl's life was March 6 th , 1975, when she prayed and Jesus came into her heart and saved her soul!  From that day forward she unwaveringly and wholeheartedly served the Lord.

Cheryl became a widow at the young age of 32.  She worked tirelessly to support her 4 young children, working a job, taking them to church every time the doors were opened, teaching them the Bible, and demonstrating what it really means to 'trust the Lord'!  Time and again, her children got to witness firsthand how the Lord provides for His children!  Her children were the most important thing to her besides the Lord!

After her children were grown, Cheryl married Rev. Glen Brashear, and was a devoted wife for 16 years until Glen's death in 2005.  Always looking to work for the Lord, she prayed for another work to do.  About six months later, she willingly accepted the responsibility of adopting and raising 5 young children.  She took them to church every time the doors were opened, taught them the Bible, and demonstrated what it really means to trust the Lord, just like her other children were taught!

After her children, the most important thing to Cheryl was to win souls for Christ.  She wanted everyone to experience salvation like she did.  To her, everyone was equally important!  She would sit outside the church almost every evening with her lifelong best friend, Glenda Bellamy, and together they would witness to everyone that came by.  Cheryl was a perfect example of a true child of God!

Cheryl enjoyed praying, reading her King James Bible (her most prized possession), buying & giving away Bibles, attending church, listening to preaching/singing, listening to church online, and talking about Jesus and the Bible.  She enjoyed just being a Christian!  She enjoyed cooking, spending time with family & friends, laughing and playing games (especially PHASE 10).  She also loved to can food (if it would fit in the jar, she would can it.  If it didn't fit in the jar, she would make it fit!)

Cheryl was preceded in death by her father and mother, Paul and Reldine Thompson, her brother, Paul Thompson, her first husband, Donald Brashear, and her second husband, Glen Brashear.

She is survived by her 5 sons, Shannon (wife Becky) Brashear, Paul (wife Lisa) Brashear, Joseph (wife Mayra) Brashear, Christopher Brashear, and Zachariah Brashear; her 4 daughters, Theresa (husband William) Firey, Rebecca (husband Robert) Cherry, Elisabeth (husband Jack) Duke, and Leah Brashear (husband Houston McCoy); her 21 Grandchildren; her 28 Great-grandchildren; her best friend Glenda Bellamy, and numerous cousins and friends.
