Darrell Wayne Stevens 70 passed away May 6, 2024, at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK after a short illness.
Darrell was born December 10, 1953, in Tulsa, OK to Lawson David Stevens and Willie May (Warren) Stevens. He was employed at Zephyrus Electronics as a sheet metal fabricator.
Darrell met Sherry Upshaw on a blind date. They married on June 8, 1974. They would have been married 50 years on June 8, 2024. Sherry passed away on November 11, 2023. Darrell was her caregiver for many years during her illness. Since her passing, he has been lost without her. They loved one another very much.
Darrell was an avid Mopar muscle car enthusiast. He restored his 1971 Charger doing most of the work himself. Darrell enjoyed going to classic car shows where he met many lifelong close friends. He also won numerous trophies and plaques for his entries.
He is survived by his brother Jimmy Stevens of Fort Worth, Texas, sisters Linda Detriek of Fort Worth, Texas, Tareca Conder of Claremore, OK, Donna Adams of Tulsa, OK, and Debbie Adams of Mannford, OK.
Brothers-in-law Kevin (Gigi) Upshaw of Elgin, OK and Keith (Deebee) Upshaw of Broken Arrow, OK. The children he claimed as his own, Gary Wyatt (Jesse) Box of Sand Springs, OK, Ryan (Nicole) Box of Kiefer, OK, and Noah (Baylee) Cherry of Sapulpa, OK. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other relatives he dearly loved. Special friends he considered chosen family.
Darrell is preceded in death by his wife Sherry, his parents and his brothers Gary and Larry.
A special thank you to Carey, Bryan, and Edie Chapman who have taken such good care of Darrell and Sherry for years. You have gone beyond being good neighbors. You became family!
Thank you to Zephyrus Electrical for standing by Darrell during Sherry's long illness and with him during his short illness. May the Lord bless you all!
In lieu of flowers, Darrell asked that you plant a tree in his memory.
Services will be held 11:00am on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Traditions Funeral Chapel, Kellyville, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Traditions Funeral and Cremation Services 35 S Main in Kellyville, Oklahoma 918-247-7373.
