IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David Leslie
Beyer
October 30, 1945 – May 20, 2024
David Leslie Beyer passed peacefully from this life on Monday, May 20, 2024, at the age of 78. David was born in Freeport, Illinois on October 30, 1945, to Ray and Betty Beyer. He grew up farming in Derinda, Illinois with his parents and two brothers, Rodney and Bradley. David graduated from Elizabeth High School in Elizabeth, Illinois with the class of 1963 where he was a star basketball player for the Elizabeth Terrapins. He earned his accounting degree from Luther College in Decora, Iowa and went on to earn his CPA.
David worked for Price Waterhouse in Chicago. When they asked for a volunteer to move to Tulsa, David jumped at the opportunity. David moved to Sapulpa soon after, having accepted positions at Liberty Glass Company and later at Bennett Steel. He forged life-long friendships at those companies and in the community. David was a member of First Baptist Church. He served on the Sapulpa School Board, the Creek County Industrial Authority, the Sapulpa Chamber of Commerce, and was a member of the Rotary Club. In 2018, David was named Sapulpa's Citizen of the Year. Hiking was a passion for David, who hiked into and out of the Grand Canyon three times. As an avid hiker, he most recently enjoyed his service on the Sapulpa Park Friends Foundation board where he focused on helping expand Sapulpa's trail system.
David will be lovingly remembered by his wife Vickie and their six children: Leslie Beyer, Sapulpa; Michael (Cory) Beyer, Tulsa; Jeffrey (Angela) Beyer, Jenks; Allison (Daryl) Wheeler, Norman; Travis (Missy) Lawson, Tulsa; and Mark (Pam) Lawson, Sapulpa. They are also blessed with twelve grandchildren: Bethany, Matthew, Caleb, and Joshua Beyer; Hudson Beyer; Finn, Seth, and Levi Wheeler; Cale and Caroline Lawson; Asher Hulion and Ivy Lawson; brother Rodney (Teresa) Beyer of Warren, IL; brother Bradley (Bonnie) Beyer of Stockton, IL; uncle Elvin (Dee) Beyer, Sierra Madre, CA; mother-in-law Jo Ann Varnell, Sapulpa; sister-in-law Cindy (Jack) Bertram, Cibolo, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends he called family.
Private services are planned.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to Sapulpa Park Friends Foundation in David's honor.
Arrangements are under the direction of Traditions Funeral and Cremation Services, 35 S. Main, Kellyville, OK 918-247-7373.
