Obituary

David Lee Ellingson of Kellyville, Oklahoma went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on March 2nd, 2025. Dave was blessed to stay in his home during the end of his time on Earth, always surrounded by his family and people he loved. His desire was to pass "easy" and pain free, and that is exactly how the Lord took him home.

Dave was born April 27th, 1950, in Edgeley, North Dakota to Harold and Erna Ellingson. Dave resided on their family farm, helping his family make a living. Dave was a natural athlete and enjoyed all sports, especially football and wrestling, and graduated from Edgeley high school. He went on to college at North Dakota State University. Dave was in the Army National Guard and served in the army as a cook. Dave met and married Vickie Reid and remained married a little short of 47 years. Dave and Vickie moved to Oklahoma in 1979, where Dave soon became a member of the Tulsa Fire Department and served for 28 years. Dave also became the Creek County Fairgrounds manager, where he and Vickie handled all facets of managing such a facility for close to 30 years. Dave sold horse trailers with Ellingson Trailer Sales, and made many quick trips to North Dakota, hauling multiple trailers to a dealership and spending a short night with his parents. On his days off from the fire department, he operated a lawn service in the summer months. Dave was a member of the Kellyville School board for many years, where Grant and Sarah attended school. After Dave fully retired, he turned his time and attention to helping his wife, kids and grandkids, and many friends with anything they needed from ubering the kids, to using his tractor to clear snowy driveways. Dave was a member of the Linden Street Christian church and loved the small congregation of believers.

Dave loved to watch Grant and Sarah grow up and was at every sports event and rodeo he could attend (when he wasn't at the fire station). They spent many long nights at junior rodeos, many weekends at high school rodeos, many cold nights at the football field watching Grant, and in the basketball gym watching Sarah. After his grandkids came along, he was at almost every junior rodeo and sporting event his grandkids were a part of. Dave loved hunting and was always geared up for hunting season. He loved his hunting group and the hunting trips every fall. He spent much time with his grandson, sighting in rifles and early mornings in the woods.

Dave is survived by his wife Vickie, children Grant Ellingson and wife Hilary, Sarah McNiel and husband Pecos, grandkids Trustin Sauter and Audrey Sauter, his siblings Diane Greiman,

Denise Simonsen and husband Kent, and Dana Ellingson and wife Jennifer, nieces Jordan (Husband Micheal and children Lucy and Aaron), Jamey, Jenna and Jadin Ellingson, many cousins and friends that were like family.

There is no doubt that Dave is in heaven with Jesus. He was ready to go "home" and was at peace during his last few months. "For this life is but a breath"

Dave's family invites everyone to his Celebration of Life on Sunday, April 27th, 2025, at 4:00pm at the Creek County Fairgrounds, dining hall. This would have been Dave's 75th birthday and his family would like to remember his life and have a heavenly birthday party. His family in North Dakota will celebrate his life in the small town he grew up in, on the same date, with more family and friends.

Arrangements are under the direction of Traditions Funeral and Cremation Services, 35 S. Main, Kellyville, OK, 918-247-7373.
