David Larry
Whidden
October 5, 1968 – March 27, 2026
David Larry Whidden (Davey), was the first born of three brothers. His brother Randy Ellis was born around two years after him and brother James Daniel was born 14 years later.
David was born in Lompoc, California, where his father was stationed, and served in United States Air Force.
David loved old trucks, going to his family’s camp in the Everglades of North Ft. Myers, Florida, going on his rowboat and attending church. He never liked the heat of southern Florida, so when he got old enough, although he loved his family, he took off in his 66 suburban his dad had given him, a thousand dollars and his hound dog Bufford, who was actually a girl he named April, but for some reason he called her Bufford. That was his sense of humor.
He ended up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he was given a job at a machine shop by a church member and he didn’t know anything about being a machinist at that time, I believe in 1991. He learned quickly and he met me, Sandra McGuire, at church and we dated and married just around nine months later. We were married around 25 years before we regretfully divorced. David went on before and after our marriage to be very successful in the machine shop business and became well respected at work and was promoted to CNC Programmer and maybe more, but I don’t his exact title. My family and his family were always very impressed and proud of him.
David was a very loyal friend and generous person and had a special love and gentleness with animals.
David, Davey or Whid, was and is, greatly loved and forever will be in this physical life greatly missed.
He is survived by his parents, David Ellis Whidden and Carolyn Canada and his two brothers and his nephew Carson Whidden.
With love, Sandra
