Obituary

Dean Owen Wise, 74, of Kiefer, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Thursday, September 3, 2026.

Dean was born April 2, 1952, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, to Herbert Owen and Lorene Charles Wise. Because his father served in the military, Dean and his family lived in many places before eventually settling in Sapulpa. He attended Sapulpa High School and later joined the United States Army, proudly serving his country.

After his military service, Dean began his career as a firefighter in June of 1977. On August 20, 1977, he married the love of his life, Nancy Greeson. Together, Dean and Nancy built a life centered around family, service, and community.

After retiring from the fire department, Dean worked as a paralegal and private investigator for Eaton and Sparks Law Firm. During this time, he also became a reserve deputy with the Creek County Sheriff’s Department. After the law firm closed, Dean joined the Sheriff’s Department full-time, serving as a logistics coordinator and deputy. Due to his health, he retired on January 1, 2026.

Dean was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sapulpa, where he served on the finance and building committees. His dedication to helping others also led him to volunteer with CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), an organization that advocates for children. Dean served CASA as both president and a board member.

Above all, Dean was a devoted husband and an active and loving father and grandfather. His family was an important part of his life, and he especially treasured his grandchildren.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Lorene Wise, and his sister, Donna Wise Fulks.

He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Wise; children, Jeremy Wise and Leah Gentry and husband Colin; and grandchildren, Jackson, Kyler, and Elias Gentry.
