Obituary for Donald Ray Stobaugh

Donald Ray Stobaugh, 75, of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on September 29, 2025.  He was born on November 1, 1949, in Tulsa to Elbert Orsen Stobaugh and Dessie Mae (Rose) Stobaugh.

Don spent part of his youth growing up in west Tulsa before moving to Kiefer, Oklahoma, where he graduated from Kiefer High School in 1967.  After high school, he attended Tulsa Welding School, where he began building the foundation for a lifelong career in the welding supply and industrial gas industry.  He worked at Flint Steel before beginning his entrepreneurial journey.  In 1978, he co-founded D&M Welding Supply, followed by Alloy Welding Supply in 1982, and later Tulsa Gas & Gear in 2011.  His vision and work ethic left a lasting mark on the industry and his community. Don retired from Tulsa Gas & Gear in 2021.

Beyond business, Don lived life fully and joyfully. He loved collecting antique cars and proudly showing them at events, where he won many awards.  He enjoyed spending days on the golf course and was especially proud of making a hole-in-one.  Don also took great pride in maintaining his beautiful property, bird hunting, and spending time at the lake on his Sea-Doo's.  He was notoriously known for overfeeding his animals, especially his beloved dogs Albert, Winston, Red, and Sadie, as well as his horses and goats.  Don also had a passionate love for Oklahoma Sooner Football and was a proud season ticket holder for 37 consecutive seasons.

Above all, Don cherished his family. He married the love of his life, Patti Sue (Clark) Stobaugh, in 1980, and they shared 45 wonderful years together.  They spent their adult family life in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, where they raised their son and built lasting friendships.
Don very much loved and was proud of his three granddaughters, Madalynn Craig, Gracelynn Stobaugh, and Kensington Stobaugh, who were the light of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert Orsen Stobaugh and Dessie Mae (Rose) Stobaugh, and his infant son, Brent Matthew Stobaugh.

He is survived by his wife, Patti; his son, Steven Kyle Stobaugh and wife, Deidra (Craig) Stobaugh; his granddaughters, Madalynn, Gracelynn, and Kensington; his brothers, Charles Stobaugh and Rick Stobaugh; and many extended family members and friends.

Don was known for his kindness, patience, and gentle spirit. He leaves behind a legacy of love and respect that will continue to guide his family and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on October 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at First Christian Church of Kiefer.
