IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Doris Jean
Winsel
April 20, 1926 – November 8, 2021
Doris Jean (Perry) Winsel slipped into heaven on November 8, 2021, in Glenpool, Oklahoma. Doris was born on April 20, 1926, in Faxon, OK to C.F. and Laura Perry. She graduated from Faxon High School and went on to attend Northeastern State University in Tahlequah obtaining her bachelor's degree in elementary education. She was a teacher for 37 years before retiring in 1986. Most of her years teaching were spent at Allen Bowden School where she mostly taught third grade.
After high school graduation Doris went to the big city of Lawton to work. This is where she met the love of her life, Clarence Winsel. He was in the Army stationed at Fort Sill at the time. They married in Van Buren, Arkansas on September 14, 1946, and both attended Northeastern State University together.
Doris's first teaching job was in Murphy, Oklahoma in a two-room school. While teaching in Murphy, Doris and Clarence met their lifelong friends Lois and Dewey Dunn. Even after moving to Creek County the following year, they kept their friendship with the Dunn's, spending many days fishing and camping.
Doris loved to play canasta and after retirement there was a regular canasta night with Doris and Margaret Chambers facing off with her running mate Betty Downs and Denise Frazier.
Two years after Doris's retirement her granddaughter Jenifer came along. Doris was her babysitter until the time Jenifer started school. She adored her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all.
Doris is survived by her daughter Denise Frazier and husband Joe; granddaughter Jenifer Ruley and husband Justin; great-grandchildren Camaron and Brooklyn Ruley; niece Laura Saylors and husband Kevin and Ruth Sims and husband Dale; special friend Betty Downs, and a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence G Winsel; mother and father CF and Laura Perry and sister Dorothy Merritt.
