IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dustin Marcus
Devore
August 29, 1980 – October 3, 2025
Sail On, Dr. Dustin DeVore
August 29, 1980 – October 4, 2025
Some people just drift through life. Dr. Dustin DeVore threw on his shades, turned up the music, and partied through it.
Born August 29, 1980, Dustin—part stand-up comic, part philosopher, and part pro-wrestler at heart, spent 45 glorious, unpredictable years chasing laughter, friendship, and the perfect punchline. His friends called him "Dr. DeVo," but he was more like the world's funniest Life Professor — teaching the love of community, history, and good company. If you ever heard him tell a story, you know he didn't just talk — he performed. Every sentence had a rhythm, every laugh had a purpose.
Dustin loved many things fiercely: a good party, the perfect culinary cuisine, a killer joke, and of course the theatre of professional wrestling. He believed life should be lived with the flair of an entrance song and the drama of a title match. And if you didn't agree — well, he'd hit you with a one-liner so good you'd change your mind.
An accomplished academic, Dustin received his Bachelor's and Master's of Arts from the University of Tulsa and his Doctor of Philosophy in History from Oklahoma State University. He proudly spent many years teaching at both the high school and college levels, bringing his signature enthusiasm into every classroom.
Dustin will be profoundly missed by his friends and family including: his wife, Becki DeVore; his mom and dad Susan and Mark DeVore; his brother Daniel DeVore and wife Theresa and niece, Madison; his grandma Mary DeVore; his local aunts and uncles, Mike and Robin DeVore, Brenda and Sam Phillips; and cousins Parker DeVore and wife Brittany DeVore and Leah Duke, Corey Phillips and Casey Cochrane and husband Eric; and a very special distant cousin Erik of Batesville, Indiana; along with many more aunts, uncles, and cousins. Dustin is preceded in death by his grandpa, Gene DeVore, and grandparents, Etta and Amos Roy.
Dustin's parting words of wisdom? They'd be simple, loud, and straight from Jimmy Buffett "It's important to have as much fun as possible while we're here. It balances out the times when the minefield of life explodes".
So here's to Dr. Dustin DeVore — our brother, our friend, our headliner, the party won't be the same without him, but we'll keep the music playing until we meet again.
Dustin's Celebration will be Sunday, November 9th, 2025, from 2-5 pm at Marshall Brewing Company ~ 1741 E 6th St., Tulsa, OK 74104.
Arrangements are under the direction of Traditions Funeral and Cremation Services, 35 S. Main, Kellyville, OK, 918-247-7373.
