Jean
Peterson
Nov 9, 1931 — Sep 3, 2026
Sapulpa
Edith Jean Peterson, 94, of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2026.
Jean was born on November 9, 1931, in Sapulpa, where she grew up and later graduated as a proud member of the Sapulpa High School Class of 1950. She went on to build a beautiful life centered around the people she loved most.
Jean married the love of her life, Don Peterson. Together, they shared 60 years of marriage before his passing.
Jean was the ultimate homemaker and took great pride in making her home a place where family and friends felt welcome. She loved hosting family gatherings and was happiest when everyone was together around her table. She had a natural gift for making people feel cared for, always making sure her guests had everything they needed. Taking care of others was simply part of who she was.
Jean also had a wonderful sense of style and always looked her best. She was rarely seen without a classy outfit, her hair perfectly done, big earrings and lipstick on. She carried herself with grace and confidence, and her sense of style was one of the many things that made her uniquely Jean.
She enjoyed a good game of bridge and loved both playing and hosting bridge with her friends. She also loved to shop and never passed up an opportunity to browse the thrift stores, where she especially enjoyed the fun of finding something special.
To know Jean was to know her kindness, humor, generosity, and deep love for her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who gave so much of herself to those around her. More than anything, she treasured time with her family and the opportunity to care for the people she loved. Her family is grateful for the life she shared with them, the love she gave so freely, the example she set, and the memories they will carry in their hearts forever.
Jean is survived by her children, Rusty Peterson and his wife, Linda, of Broken Arrow; Randy Peterson of Sapulpa; and Rick Peterson and his wife, Suzanne, of Broken Arrow; grandchildren, Ryan Peterson of Phoenix, Arizona; Lauren Peterson of Lewisburg, Tennessee; Grant Peterson and his wife, Alexia Peterson, of Broken Arrow; and Kyle Peterson of Jenks; great-grandchild, Dusty Minor of Lewisburg, Tennessee; and sisters, Joan Vanlandingham of Sapulpa and Judy Brace of Tulsa.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Mack and Florence Dixon; her husband, Don Peterson; and her brother, Dick Dixon.
A rosary and funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Sacred Heart Church in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. The rosary will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by the funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m.
