Obituary

Faye N. Massey, our beautiful Wife, Mother and Nanny entered the pearly gates and saw the streets of gold in Heaven on Saturday, October 25, 2025. Faye was born December 26, 1940, in Muskogee, OK. She met the love of her life, her Danny Boy at Muskogee High School and they became high school sweethearts. Faye was a beautiful, petite, brown eyed brunette that enjoyed 66 years of marriage with Dan. They married on May 29, 1959, the day after she graduated from high school. Their early years of marriage involved a lot of moving around while Dan pursued his career. She followed faithfully and they built a very strong union during these times. While in OKC, Faye and Dan were blessed with daughter #1, Sherrie. A few years later, Faye and Dan moved to Sapulpa, with baby in tow this time, and found their forever home. Roots were planted on Bixby Street in Sapulpa and a few years later, daughter #2, Barbara, was born. Mom poured her heart and soul into raising her two girls to be strong and compassionate women. While raising her young family with Dan, Faye returned to college to obtain her Registered Nurse degree. Faye excelled in this career and found her professional calling. Faye was dedicated to Bartlett Memorial Hospital/St. John's Sapulpa for 37 years.

Upon retiring, Faye enjoyed her relaxing mornings on her back porch with a coffee cup in hand. She did not miss those 7am shifts at the hospital! Her love for flowers was evident all year long in her yard. As the seasons changed, so would her variety of flowers. Faye also got to visit and enjoy her friends at the Sapulpa Public Library during retirement. Her love of reading made trips to the library a very frequent event. Music, art, theater and dance were also some of Faye's interests. Faye truly enjoyed the retirement life and got to reap the rewards of many years of hard work. Her friends at First Baptist Church Sapulpa were a joy to her. She enjoyed fellowshipping with them on Sunday mornings at Sunday School and serving with them in the kitchen for bereavement dinners for many years. That community of brothers and sisters were very important to her.

Faye is survived by her loving husband Dan, daughters Sherrie Herwig and Barbara Russell (husband Don), grandchildren Daniel Herwig (wife Shaina), Erin Cordova (husband Josh), Garrett DeMoss, Danelle DeMoss and great- grandchildren Hamilton Cordova, Haley Herwig and Casey Herwig, Brother John Tanner and sister-in-law Lisa, sister-in-law Shirley Tanner and sister-in-law Barbara Vann. Faye was also blessed with bonus grandchildren Kamda Benton (husband Josh), Sarah McKibbin (husband Dustin) and James Garrett Russell along with bonus great-grandchildren Adeline Benton and Aurora Benton. Mom loved "trying" to keep up with this whole gang of children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her words at the end of each visit were, "Call ME, if you need anything". She always wanted to be our first line of defense, encouragement and help in any way.

Faye reunites with her Mother, Belle Bullard, older brother Jimmy Tanner and niece Linda Hurst for a heavenly family reunion like no other. We can all hear the laughter now!
