Fred Darl Russell, lovingly known to many as "Patch," passed from this life on June 10, 2026, at the age of 87.
Fred was born in Bristow, Oklahoma, and graduated from Bristow High School in 1957. Following graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy, where he was stationed aboard the USS Bowers.
For more than 50 years, Fred was a dedicated barber in Sapulpa, where he became a familiar face and a cherished friend to countless members of the community. Beyond his profession, Fred was an avid fisherman, hunter, and farmer who enjoyed raising horses and cattle throughout his life.
Fred was a longtime member of Cross Pointe Church, where he faithfully served as a Trustee and Senior Adult Sunday School teacher. One of his greatest ministries was leading worship services in area nursing homes each weekend, sharing his faith and compassion with others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Victor Russell and Dovie Marie (Butcher) Russell; sons Greg, Montie and Lando; brothers, Mac Russell and wife Lydia, Bobbie Russell and wife Naomi, Johnny Russell, and Jimmy Russell; and sisters, Toni Keeling and husband Bonnie, Teen Wade and husband Harold, and Annie Lawrence and husband Bill.
Fred is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, LaNell Russell; his son, Chuck Russell and wife Naomi; his daughters, Shari Golden, Cheryl Pearce and husband Robert and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends who adored him.
Fred was deeply loved by all who knew him. His legacy of faith, service, hard work, and kindness will continue to live on through the many lives he touched. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
Memorial services will be 2pm, Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Cross Pointe Church, 450 E Speer Ave, Sapulpa.
