Gerald "Sonny" Jones, 78, went to be with the Lord on January 15, 2026, at his home surrounded by family. Sonny was born on August 25, 1947, in Hodgen, OK to Ernest and Pauline Jones. He graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1966. He spent most of his working life as a pipe welder, finishing his career at Tulsa County, where he later retired. Sonny faithfully served his country in the United States Air Force for four years, including 28 months overseas. He was stationed at Naha Air Base in Okinawa for 16 months with the 7th Aerial Port squadron in air freight, and his service also included missions in Korea and Japan, as well as a year in Vietnam.

Sonny met and married Maureen Guenthoer while serving in the military. He later married the love of his life, Vicki, in 1979. They enjoyed 39 years of marriage before she passed in June of 2022.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge for many years. Sonny enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors– whether that meant piddling in the yard or shop, listening to his favorite music, and usually drinking a beer. He always looked forward to his time in deer camp with family and friends.

He loved his family, especially his kids and grandkids. Those that knew him well, knew he had a temper and not to make him mad, but remember him most by his unique laugh that was infectious to everyone around.

He was willing to help whoever he could and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his kids: Jerrid and wife Carrie of Sand Springs, Chad and wife Kelli of Sapulpa and Nicki and husband Jerod of Sapulpa; His grandkids: Andrea, Brittany, Shelby, Dakodah, Cierah, Logan, Braxton, Alli, Ireland and Israel. 3 great grandchildren; His brothers Roger "Bub" and Ronnie and his sister Lisa as well as many other family members and friends.

There will be a visitation from 6-8pm on Thursday, January 29th at Traditions Funeral Chapel.

Services will at 2pm on Friday, January 30th at Traditions Funeral Chapel.
