IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gerald S.
Kelsey
January 10, 1937 – January 19, 2021
GERALD STUART KELSEY, A long-time Sapulpan, Jerry died on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. He was born January 10, 1937, in Shidler, Oklahoma, to L. M. and Nora Kelsey. Jerry was the youngest of five boys and one sister. After graduating from Drumright High School in 1955, Jerry worked in the oil fields before attending Northeastern State University and graduating in 1963 with a BS Degree in Math.
Jerry met wife, Billie, at NSU when he was President of his fraternity and Billie an officer of her sorority; they loved swing dancing together at college functions. Jerry & Billie married in Tahlequah in 1962. Upon graduation, Jerry worked in Data Processing. He retired as a System Analyst from the Department of Career Tech State Offices.
Jerry & Billie were blessed in 1968 with first child, Kay Lynn, soon followed by Karen, and John who all graduated from Sapulpa High School. Jerry served nine years on the School Board for Sapulpa Public Schools.
Much of Jerry's life revolved around serving Christ his Savior. He served faithfully as a teacher of Sunday School, church trainer, Bible study leader, Deacon Chairman, and on most every church committee. If the doors of the church were open, he was there and sometimes even when they weren't.
Many men have expressed their appreciation for the time and love Jerry invested in their Christian development. Several have attested to Jerry sharing the plan of salvation with them and presenting them with a Bible. Several, including his son, John, are today in full-time ministry. Jerry had a willingness to serve in any capacity he felt Christ calling. Most everyone who knew him speak of his sincere expressions of love and concern for them.
Jerry is survived by wife of 59 years, Billie; Children: Kay Lynn (Pete) Honeywell; Karen (David) Cable; John (Jennifer) Kelsey; grandchildren Jon, Nathan, Merritt, T. J, Mallory, Matthew, & Josiah, and great granddaughters Rylee & RyLynn; many nieces & nephews.
