Obituary

Glenn Gary Akers (age 78), of Liberty Mounds, passed from this life to be with the Lord on March 28, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his family and friends.
Glenn was born December 16, 1944, in Wister, Oklahoma to Hillard and Ruth Akers. He graduated from Wister High School and studied diesel mechanics at Okmulgee Tech. He was a volunteer firefighter while on campus, living at the fire station. He owned his own truck shop, Truck and Diesel, for 30 years and was a master diesel mechanic for 57 years. He was well known for giving helpful advice online through truck forums on how to fix big trucks, with a specific expertise on older Mack trucks.
Upon receiving his diagnosis of cancer, he came home and held hands with his wife, thanking God for his wonderful kids, the opportunity to live a great life, and praying that when his time came, he would be ready to meet the Lord.
Glenn married the love of his life, Barisa Akers, and celebrated 57 years together last April. Glenn faithfully served God, attending Glenpool United Pentecostal Church. He was a dedicated saint who loved his pastor.
Glenn spent his spare time working on trucks, hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, of whom he was very proud. He was loved and will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife Barisa Akers, brothers Doyal Akers, Lanny and Sue Akers, and Don and Rocky Akers. He is also survived by his children: Gary and Patricia Akers, Diann and Jimmy Morrell, and Mark and Julie Akers, as well as numerous grand-children and great grand-children.
The Celebration of Life service will be Friday, April 7th at 11 a.m. at the Glenpool United Pentecostal Church 88 W Main St, Glenpool, Oklahoma.  Arrangements are under the direction of Traditions Funeral and Cremation Services, Kellyville, Oklahoma.
The family has set up a GoFundMe account for his spouse Barisa in lieu of flowers.
