Obituary

Imogene Watkins 86, of Kellyville, went to be with her Lord on June 17, 2024.

Imogene was born on August 29, 1937, in Oologah, Oklahoma to Dee and Zena Orman. She was married to Tom Watkins for 39 years until his death in 1992.

Imogene was a member of Blue Bell Freewill Baptist church & was a very devoted Christian. She served in her church as treasurer, secretary, Sunday school teacher, VBS director, janitor, maintenance person, pie maker and many other roles. She was devoted to her faith & her church for over 60 years.

Imogene was very active and loved to stay busy. She loved serving her church, sewing, traveling, spending time with her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren. She served behind the scenes to her church family as well as the Kellyville community, assisting new mothers & their children, helping neighbors and those in need.

One of her greatest accomplishments was becoming the 1st librarian of the Kellyville Public Library. Imogene along with the Friends of the Library, raised money through bake sales, garage sales, public donations, dinners and soliciting grants from the Gates Foundation, Kaiser Foundation, Starkey Foundation and many other ways to fund a new library building to be built. After raising sufficient funds, a new, modern, state of the art library building was built. Imogene added her own personal touch in the planning of the library to include a large saltwater aquarium.

She is survived by 2 sons, Jim Watkins and wife Sheryl, Rick Watkins and wife Reta and 1 daughter, Debbie Madden and husband Tim; grandchildren Deanna Watkins, Michelle Montgomery, Kevin Owen, Mike Owen, Rick Watkins II, Mareta Sole, David Watkins, Natalie Griffin and Paul Madden; 21 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends and she was deeply loved by her nieces and nephews.
