Jack Buford Whittenton

June 15, 1936 - May 16, 2024

Jack Buford Whittenton was born to Ocea and Vera Whittenton on June 15, 1936. Jack was the only boy of three sisters; Eloise, Joann and Linda. Jack was raised in Kellyville, Oklahoma. Jack attended Kellyville schools and graduated from Kellyville High School in 1954. Jack became the owner of his dad's business, General Millwork Company which later turned into Century Hardware. Jack was a tradesman/Plumber and owned his own plumbing business, J.B. Whittenton & Company.

Jack married Barbara (Kidd) in 1955 and they had their only son, Chris Whittenton in 1956. Jack later married Dianne (Denham) of Kellyville on November 27, 1963 and they remained best friends for fifty-two years. To this union, she brought a daughter, Cassy. Together they raised Chris and Cassy in their Sapulpa home.

After retirement and even before Jack and Dianne loved to travel the United States, Canada and Mexico sightseeing and fishing. Jack loved to hunt and fish with his son, Chris and sister; Eloise and husband Max.

Jack loved spending time with his friends Bill Davidson, Perry Markman and Gene Jones.

Jack was a long-time resident of 1320 E. Hobson where he was surrounded by the best neighbors, Jerry Holt, Phillip Sontag and the late Mike Wheeler.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Ocea and Vera Whittenton; Sister, Eloise Staiger and husband, Max. Sister, Joann Romine and husband, Pete. Wife, Dianne Whittenton and Barbara (Kidd) Davis. Uncle, Oren Whittenton.

He is survived by his son; Chris Whittenton I and wife Pam of Sapulpa. Grandson; Chris Whittenton II and wife Sarah Whittenton of Jenks. Granddaughter; Ashley Whittenton and spouse Mick Wright of Tulsa, Great-Granddaughter, Saylor Gray Wright. Daughter; Cassy Dobson and husband Wayne Dobson of Sapulpa. Granddaughter; Kim Martin and husband Kevin of Sapulpa. Great-Granddaughter's; Hadley and Tatum Martin. Sister; Linda Little and husband Pete of Kellyville, and a host of family and friends.

The family is eternally thankful for the wonderful care Jack received at Grace Skilled Nursing and Therapy in Jenks, The Garden's in Sapulpa and to all the amazing people at Season's Hospice.

Graveside services will be 10am, Tuesday, at South Heights Cemetery in Sapulpa. Arrangements are under the direction of Traditions Funeral and Cremation Services, 35 S. Main, Kellyville, OK, 918-247-7373.
