James Eddie Barnes, 72, of Sapulpa went to be with the Lord on December 23, 2024.

Eddie was born May 29, 1952, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma to Camilla Barnes.  He moved to Sapulpa with his mother and brother, Terry, in 1964.  Eddie graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1970 and spent some time in the Air Force.  He retired from Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad as a train engineer where he was employed for 30+ years.

Eddie married Gail Parkins in 1973, and they raised 2 daughters together.  Eddie always enjoyed riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, in his earlier years, he spent lots of time on the lake with family.  He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Sapulpa and The Lions Den, a nonprofit social group who gives back to those in need. Eddie had so many friends that became a part of his family.  His love for his friends and family was so evident.  He lived life for his daughters and grandchildren and was so proud of them all.  He lived life fast and without fear, aka Fast Eddie.  It was always said "If he was not on 4 wheels, he was on 2."  Eddie also earned the nickname "Snake Barnes" and he wore it proudly.

Eddie is preceded in death by his mother Camilla, stepfather Truman Archer.  He is survived by the mother of his children, Gail Barnes, daughter April Horath and granddaughters Lilly, Chloe and Brady Horath; daughter Emily Rice and her husband Robert and grandchildren Lawson and Lanie Rice; his brother Terry Barnes and wife Sherry and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at Traditions Funeral Home, 35 South Main, Kellyville, Oklahoma.

Reception following the service at Sapulpa Elks Lodge, 24 South Poplar.
