James Gary Scott 61, of Mannford, passed from this life Sunday, July 17, 2022. He was born May 3, 1961, in Glendale, California to James and Earlene (Franks) Scott. After moving to Oklahoma Gary attended Charles Page High School in Sand Springs. After high school he was employed by Sheffield Steel as a steel worker where he retired after 20 plus years of employment.
Early in life Gary married Helenia Coon and from this marriage was born 2 daughters, Christina Akers and Suzan Scott. Later in life Gary met and married Joyce Griffith and from this marriage he gained 6 more children Amanda, Shawn, Amber, Joseph, Mya and John. He is also survived by grandchildren Dylan Scott, Alexia Jackson, Cameron Ladd, Gage Ladd, Allyson Ritchie, Ayden Ritchie, Jordan Akers, James Akers, Mckayla Ladd, Anissia Polk, Arian Polk, Aiden Rogers, Ace Pruitt and Ryland Pruitt; great-grandchildren Zane Scott and Audrey Scott and sisters Cindy, Sharon and Sandra.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents James and Earlene Scott and brother Michael Scott.
Gary enjoyed working with his hands and built his first home with his wife Joyce from the ground up. Unfortunately, they lost their home in the Mannford fire, but Gary was currently working on building their second home. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, yardwork, spending time with grandkids and animals. It was known that Gary would take in and care for any stray that came along. He also loved to sing karaoke, especially George Strait songs, and play his guitar. He had a caring heart and would help anybody, everyone knew if they had any kind of trouble, they could call Gary and he would be right there. He was loved deeply and will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
There will be a visitation will be from 6-8pm, Thursday, July 21, 2022, at Traditions Funeral Chapel in Kellyville. Services will be 2:00 pm, Friday, July 22, 2022, also at Traditions Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jake Knight officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Traditions Funeral and Cremation Services, 35 S. Main, Kellyville, Oklahoma, 918-247-7373.
