Obituary

Janny Diane Simpson, a radiant light in the lives of all who knew her, went home to be with the Lord on July 12, 2025, in Broken Arrow, OK .  A longtime resident of Sand Springs, OK, Janny spent her final days surrounded by friends and family at a home filled with the spirit of love and laughter – just the way she lived her life.

Born on August 24, 1939, in Hobart, OK to Russell Venton and Monte Mae Shockley, Janny was the youngest of five children – and, by all accounts, the most ornery of the bunch.  Her feisty spirit and strong sense of humor carried her through life's challenges and helped her bring joy to everyone around her.

After graduating from Con 8 School, Janny married and moved to Tulsa, OK in 1957, where she raised her two daughters, Angela & Kandi, with love, strength and endless support. Determined and resourceful, she worked hard to gain new skills and eventually discovered her true calling in Mary Kay Cosmetics.  Her passion for helping others feel beautiful – inside and out – shined through in her decades of work as a consultant, Director and mentor.  She found immense joy in encouraging and uplifting others, whether in business, faith, or everyday life.

Janny was a woman of deep faith, boundless joy, and unwavering love.  She adored her family, treasured her Mary Kay & church families and served her God with all her heart.  She lived her life as an encourager, always offering a kind word, a warm hug, or a cheerful smile.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Russell & Monte Mae Shockley, her brother Pat Shockley, sisters Joy Clark, Carol Ogden and Mary Ankney.  Janny is survived by her daughters & son in laws: Angela & Brant Hanson, Kandi & Mike Harper, grandchildren: Alyssa & Ryne Pruitt, Blake & Kara Hanson, Jadon & Courtney Harper, Zane Harper and Seth Harper, great grandchildren: Hana, Samara, Pax, Charlie, Miriam, Zoe, Ransom, Reyna & Violet and several nieces and nephews that she was very close to.

She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her."She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future." – Proverbs 31:26

A Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 1:00pm at the Praise Center Ministries 5672 E Hwy 117 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Burial will be 1:00pm, Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Roosevelt Cemetery in Roosevelt, Oklahoma. A glimpse inside Janny's Mary Kay career

Janny became a Mary Kay Consultant on December 7,1979. The career opportunity appealed to her because she saw a way to earn extra money for her and her daughters. She was not afraid of hard work and knew with Mary Kay, she could have time with her girls, help women and even earn extra money and the use of a car that she desperately needed.

In February 1982, only fifteen short months after joining the company, Janny met all of the qualifications to become a Mary Kay Sales Director. Only 1.5% of the Consultant Sales Force become Sales Directors. From 1986 to 1998, she earned the use of 7 Career Cars. 6 were the Pontiac Grand Am and In 1991, she and her unit qualified for the PINK Cadillac.  Only 1% of consultants meet criteria for the career car and 10% of Sales Directors earn the use of the Cadillac.

Over the years, Janny demonstrated Mary Kay's "Go-Give" philosophy, based on the fact that Jesus Christ came to "give" to this world. Janny was nominated and received the most coveted award from the company -the "Miss Go-Give" award. Janny mentored many new beauty consultants in her unit and "adopted" consultants from other out- of -town units taking them under her wings, loving and training them as her own - teaching them how to be successful and knowing she had touched another life.

For 46 years, Mary Kay was not just a business for Janny in which she got to meet friends, help women, and share an opportunity. It was a way for her to share Jesus, offer encouragement and pray with others.
