Obituary

J ohn R. Cly , 58, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on February 2, 2026. He was born on September 30, 1967, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Alan and Joyce Cly.

John was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend. He never met a stranger, and he was an easygoing guy and got along with everyone he met and could sell anyone anything. He could even sell you your own shirt. His stepsons used to tell him that he was in the wrong business, he should have been a salesman. They told him many times he could even sell an Eskimo snow.  His warmth, humor, and ability to make people feel welcome will be deeply missed.

After high school, John worked in various warehouse positions until he got the love of truck driving. He dedicated 18 years to the profession he loved before retiring due to declining health.

John met the love of his life, Cheryl, while he was still working in warehouse operations. They were married in March 2000 and began building a beautiful life together. Together they shared one son, joining a son and daughter John already had and the three sons Cheryl brought into their blended family. Family meant everything to John, and he took great pride in the life they built together.

He loved traveling to Eureka whenever he could. He loved fishing, it was his passion to find a small pond and fish for hours. In fact, he kept a fishing pole in the trunk of his car just in case he stumbled upon a good spot he could sneak into and fish. John also loved music, the louder the better. Hard rock was his favorite, and he enjoyed attending concerts throughout his life. He went to his first concert as a young teenager with his oldest sister and attended his last concert with his son, Richard.

More than anything, John cherished his family. He especially loved when his grandchildren came over, filling the house with noise and laughter.

John is survived by his devoted wife, Cheryl, and their son, Dominick Cly; his son Richard Cly and partner Kaysha; his daughter Tiffany Cly and her wife, Tori; his three stepsons, David, Nathan, and Joseph Burks of Tulsa; and his ten grandchildren.

He is also survived by his sisters, Kelly Cockrell of Tulsa and her daughter Toni Cly, and Kristy Tate of Sapulpa and her children Will Tate and Ashley Kavanaugh a four great-nieces and nephews; two stepsisters and one stepbrother; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father Alan and stepmother Donna Cly; maternal and paternal grandparents and three uncles.

Arrangements are under the direction of Tradition Funeral & Cremation Services, 35 S Main, Kellyville, OK 74039, 918-247-7373
