Obituary

The family of John Weyburn Williams is celebrating his life and his Homecoming!  Weyburn was born to James Franklin and Francis Louise (Cooper) Williams on July 11, 1942.  He departed this world in the early morning hours of February 4, 2025 in the quiet darkness of his room with his family by his side at the Veteran's Center, Claremore.

He joined the US Army upon graduating from Kellyville in 1960, serving from 1960 to 1965, with deployments to Vietnam, as a part of the 82nd Airborne.  That year John married Kathleen Rose McLaughlin.  Together they raised four children, Eleanor Jane Dow, husband Bruce of Chester OK, Roberta Ellen Fast, husband Roger of Fairview OK, Amy Suzzanne David, and James Samuel Williams, wife Kim of Kellyville, OK.  Weyburn was required to live his faith, losing his daughter Amy in 1992 in an automobile accident.  And again, just three years later, his wife Kathleen, and granddaughter Jacey Fast died two days before Christmas.  He was a rock for his family, even in the darkest of times.  He gave credit only to the power and love of his Savior.

A few years later Weyburn married Terry Lynn Fowler.  This union brought additions to his family which included Shannon Smith and husband Kenny of Depew OK, Erin Pulliam of Kellyville OK, and Dusty Fowler.  John welcomed Terry's children with opened arms.  Bringing a blended family together for holidays and family gatherings is a major undertaking, but it was done gallantly by him and Terry.

Weyburn's ambition in life was to provide a foundation and example for his family and friends through his service to Jesus Christ and the community.  He worked for Unit Rig in Tulsa for close to 35 years.  He served eight-plus years on the Kellyville School Board making life-long friends.  He was actively involved at First Baptist Church Kellyville for over fifty years.  He cherished his friendships and his ability to serve with his church family.

Additionally, Weyburn was preceded in death by his father Franklin and older brother Anthony.

Weyburn is survived by his wife Terry and their children.  He is also survived by his mother, Frances Williams and his brother Robin C. Williams.  Additionally, survived by his grandchildren Megan and Eric Schuble, Blake and Katie Fast, Katie and Jake Tennery, Morgan and Matt Turpel, Brett Fast, Macey Williams, Justin Hurt, Matt and Nicole Hurt, Paige Pulliam, Jaydee Pulliam and Nate Smith.  He might even claim former sons-in-law David Schoneberg and Jeff David.  Finally, John was blessed with six great grandchildren.

The family would also like to express extreme gratitude to the nurses and staff of Claremore Veteran's Center for their devotion and love for John Weyburn.
