Obituary

Joyce Gwendolyn Toliver, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and beloved member of the Sapulpa, Oklahoma community, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on August 4, 1944, in Norman, Oklahoma to Jack and Dorene Cossey, Gwen lived a life marked by joy, faith, and an unwavering love for her family and community.

Gwen was a classy and joyful lady, adored by everyone who knew her. Though she often tried to whisper, her vibrant voice always carried her warmth and enthusiasm. On April 30, 1965, she married the love of her life, RW (Dickie)Toliver, and together they built a family rooted in love and devotion. Gwen's faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of her life, and she poured that love into her church, Bethany Holiness Church, where she cherished the wonderful people who worshipped alongside her.

As a dedicated educator, Gwen taught at Bethany Christian Academy from 1981 to 1991, where she nurtured her students with kindness and wisdom. Her students loved her as much as she loved them, and her impact on their lives endures. Beyond the classroom, Gwen's nurturing spirit extended to her family, where she created countless memories filled with laughter and togetherness.

Gwen is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, RW (Dickie) Toliver; her children, Lisa Patterson (Tony) and Darin Toliver (Narissa); her grandchildren, Benjamin Patterson (Kelsi), Lorenda Goodman (Benjamin), Trevor Toliver (Sara), and Courtney Guthrie (Ansley); her great-grandchildren, Hadley, Tatum, Haven, Talon, Acre, Jack, and Ivy; her brother, David Cossey (Ramona); and her sister, Bonnie Keith. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Dorene Cossey; her brothers, Larry Cossey and Timmy Cossey; and her great-grandson, Athens Jordan Guthrie.

A celebration of Gwen's life will be held at Bethany Holiness Church in Sapulpa on May 7, 2025, at 2:00 PM, followed by interment at Green Hill Memorial Gardens.

Gwen's radiant joy, deep faith, and boundless love will forever shine in the hearts of her family, her church, and the Sapulpa community she held so dear.
