IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Judith (Judy)
Ann Hutchins
August 15, 1940 – November 28, 2025
Judith Ann "Judy" Ashton Hutchins, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025, surrounded by her devoted family. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering care that will continue to shape the lives of all who knew her. Born in Sand Springs on August 15, 1940, to Lewis and Mary (Armistead) Ashton, Judy was raised in the Bluebell area of Sapulpa alongside her sisters Fran, Jo, and Donna. She graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1958.
Judy first met the love of her life, Lloyd Hutchins, as a young girl. They later reconnected in their teens and were married on September 5, 1958. Together they shared 58 beautiful years of marriage and were blessed with seven children: Patti, Deanna, Randy, Rhonda, Mary, Craig, and Curtis. Her children were her greatest joy, and she poured her heart into raising a family.
Aside from a brief time in Texas during Lloyd's U.S. Army service, Judy lived most of her life in Oklahoma. In 1964, they established their home in Kellyville, where Judy created a warm and welcoming place that became the heartbeat of the family. Though she held various jobs, she dedicated most of her life to being a homemaker — a role in which she excelled and found true purpose.
Judy served her community as a member of the Kellyville OHCE, Friends of the Library, Senior Citizens, and the Scrap Happy sewing club. She treasured traveling with Lloyd, especially their motorcycle trips across the country, and found joy in reading, quilting, and any opportunity to gather with her loved ones.
What made Judy extraordinary was her gift for making everyone feel welcome and loved. Her door was always open, and she had an unmatched ability to sense exactly what someone needed — a warm meal, a listening ear, or one of her famously comforting hugs. She always had a little something for each of her children and grandchildren, no matter how big the family grew. Her home was truly the gathering place, her table the center of countless memories, and her heart the binding force of her family.
Though gentle and kind, Judy was also steadfast and strong — the kind of woman whose stern look could stop you in your tracks, yet whose warmth and humor could light up a room. She had a witty, playful sense of humor and loved doing silly things just to make others laugh, a trait many in her family proudly inherited. Her hands were rarely still; she sewed a piece of her heart into every quilt she made for her family, gifting each one with comfort, warmth, and love.
Judy was truly the foundation of her family. She gave so much of herself that her influence can be seen in each of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Though she is no longer with us, she changed us forever, and we are better because she was here.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Hutchins; her parents, Mary Neal and Lewis "Red" Ashton; her son-in-law, Richard Van Kalsbeek, Jr.; her grandson, Patrick Van Kalsbeek; and her sister, Edna Jo Morris.
Judy is lovingly remembered by her children: Patti Van Kalsbeek; Deanna and Brian Henderson; Randy and Lisa Hutchins; Rhonda and John Myers; Mary and Mike Brown; Craig and Martha Hutchins; and Curtis and Miranda Hutchins; her siblings Fran Maestas, and Donna and Jim Shimp; her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends who will forever carry her love.
Visitation will be from 6-8 pm, Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Traditions Funeral Home, 35 South Main, Kellyville, OK.
A memorial service will be held at Kellyville First Baptist Church, 306 East Camden, on December 3, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.
