Obituary

Kent Adrian Johnston was born in Springfield, Missouri on February 17th, 1975 as the first born child to Edward S. Johnston and Janice Allen Johnston. Adrian is preceded in death by his father, Edward and his paternal and maternal grandparents: Art and Alice Johnston and Murphy and Natalie Allen. Adrian is lovingly remembered by his wife of three months, Reesa Johnston and his adult son, Dylan Johnston and his fiancé, Isabel Parkey. He is also survived by his loving mother, Jan Johnston and his beloved siblings:  sister Stephanie Sorrell and husband Matt, his sister Kristy Probst and husband Weston, and his brother Clint Johnston and wife Brooke. Adrian is survived by three stepchildren: Mayce, Tanner, and Paisley Bell. He is survived by many nieces and nephews: Kendra, Kaysha, Karissa, Kallie, Khloie, and Kynlie, Winston, Shea, Chantry, Tytus, Bentley, & Jace. He is survived by his cousin Chad Samons, who was like a brother to him. He also left Meme and Pop (Eldon and Joan Fillmore) who were like grandparents to him. Many uncles, aunts, cousins and countless friends hold Adrian's sweet memory dear to their hearts.
Adrian's family resided in the Springfield, Missouri area throughout his childhood and he attended the Christian Pathway School where he graduated in 1992. After he graduated high school, Adrian's family then moved to Danville, Kentucky; while there he obtained his first job at Lowe's. The Johnstons later returned to Missouri to live in 1995. As a young man, Adrian moved to Guthrie, Oklahoma and married Tracie Woodruff and they had a son, Dylan. When Dylan was young, they moved back to Kentucky and Adrian worked with his cousin, Chad, installing design cabinetry. In 2012, Adrian and his family moved back to Guthrie and they resided there until Dylan graduated from college at OSU. Adrian then moved to the Tulsa area in 2021 and later married Reesa. They resided in Sapulpa, Oklahoma.
Adrian was a carpenter by trade and spent most of his career in commercial construction. Through the years he worked for Gellenbeck Construction in Guthrie, Oklahoma, Diversified Construction in Edmond, Oklahoma, and worked with his cousin, Chad, in cabinet installation in Danville, KY. He was presently employed at Boston Avenue Management in Tulsa, Oklahoma. There weren't many that could out work him. As his father taught him, he set a great example of work ethic for so many others.
Adrian was an avid sports fan and followed every major U.S. professional sports organization. Many times as a teenager he could be found running the battery down in the family car while listening to Cardinals baseball on the radio. Two of his favorite lifetime teams were the Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Cardinals.
Adrian was a huge music lover and true to his generous nature, he was always sharing his new favorite song with friends and family. Many relatives remember him sending random songs to them from time to time.
Adrian was known for his large, working man's hands and gave the best bear hugs. While he could be a grizzly if given the chance, he was a gentle giant that loved so well.  Adrian had no enemies. He loved kids and kids loved him. He never took himself too seriously, in fact most times probably not serious enough. He was an unassuming man that gave everyone the benefit of the doubt and always checked his ego at the door. One of the traits he inherited from his dad was his mindset: "Everybody loves me, and if they don't they ought too." He always had a huge heart for the underdog, more than ready to jump in and help anyone at any time. He also had an incredible love and awe for animals his entire life. He was an amazing father, loving husband, caring son, loyal brother, and such a good friend to those blessed enough to be in his wide circle.
Adrian was unpredictable, but in a good way. You might not have known what he would say or do, but you never doubted his love and care. He liked to push the envelope and found humor even in the hardest of things. This humor included his burial wishes which were to be floated out on a lake and blown up. He enjoyed the reaction to a perfectly timed joke or comment. He was full of wit and no amateur when it came to bantering with his peers.
Adrian will be dearly missed by his family and friends, all of whom found him to be a bright, fun-loving presence in their lives. Adrian leaves a huge hole in the hearts of those who loved him and they will forever cherish his beloved memory.
