Marie Hammond age 62 of Sapulpa passed from this life on April 27, 2023, at her home where she lived, raised her family and enjoyed life for the past 23 years. Marie was born July 30,1960, in Amarillo, TX to JC and Patty Srader. She graduated from Sapulpa High school in 1978.
In 1973 her parents were saved and began attending Hilldale Pentecostal Holiness church. Marie also became a Christian. There she met the love of her life Floyd Allen Hammond III. They were married September 7, 1978. Marie and her husband Floyd began their life as a family in Oklahoma City, OK. Their first son Floyd was born there in 1980. In 1981 they moved to Stillwell, OK. They were blessed with two more children Nathan and Katie. There they farmed together and raised their children until they relocated to Sapulpa, OK in 2000. They were married forty-four years.
One of her greatest attributes was that she was great dealing with people. Everyone liked Marie because she genuinely cared about everyone she interacted with and always made time to visit and listen. Her life touched many people in the community.
Marie was an accomplished cook and baker and loved to spend her spare time making various desserts. Her children remember there was almost always some type of pie or other dessert on hand. She was also artistic and enjoyed sewing, singing and listening to music.
She had a kind and caring heart and was always excited and willing to lend a helping hand to a friend or to volunteer. She is loved and will be missed by all her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her loving husband Floyd of the home; three children Floyd and Emily Hammond of Austin, TX., Nathan Hammond of Dallas, TX., and Rueben and Katie Houston of Muldrow, OK.; eight grandchildren Heidi Houston, Allen Hammond, Haskel Houston, Arabella Hammond, Arther Hammond, Haley Houston and Hazley Houston, and another grandson Henry Houston due soon; stepfather Gary Judy Sr.; four sisters Stacy Phillips, Kandy Behrens, Cookie Hallford and Angel Lemon; two brothers Thomas Anderson and Gary Judy Jr. and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 6-8pm, Monday, May 1, 2023, at Traditions Funeral Chapel in Kellyville. Services will be 2pm, Tuesday, May 2, 2023, also at Traditions Funeral Chapel in Kellyville. Arrangements are under the direction of Traditions Funeral and Cremation Services, 35 S. Main, Kellyville, Oklahoma, 918-247-7373.
