Obituary

Leslie Carol Ham, 63, of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, died at her home on Tuesday, March 9th, 2021. Leslie was born on December 2, 1957 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Edward & Carolyn Smithyman.

Leslie started going to Asbury United Methodist Church as a young girl when it was held at Key Elementary and was a member until she and her family moved to Sapulpa where she joined Canyon Road Baptist Church. Leslie was an active member of Life Church - Jenks the last few years of her life.

She graduated from Memorial High School in Tulsa in 1976 and Oklahoma State University with a degree in Marketing in 1980. Leslie worked at Lee C. Moore, and went on to help start and develop the first marketing department for PSO Tulsa. She quit her promising job at PSO to become a full time homemaker after she had children.

In August of 1980, Leslie met a man named Steve Ham. They soon went on a date, and it was said to be "love at first date" for the both of them. Steve soon proposed and they were married on May 16, 1981, by reverend Bill Mason at Asbury. They spent 40 wonderful years together. Together, they raised two children, Heath and Josie.

Leslie is preceded in death by her father Edward, and her mother Carolyn. She is survived by her husband Steve; her son Heath and partner Carolyn; daughter Josie and partner Brent; her sister and brother-in-law Lori and R.L. Parish; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Keith & Suzy Ham; nieces and nephew Lindsey Ayo, Blake Ingram, Abby Parish and Sean Parish.

Leslie's joys in life included being a devoted wife and loving mother, cooking for her loved ones, concert going, watching her husband play music (where you would always find her dancing and singing along), playing the cello and volunteering at church.  Above all, she was a follower of Jesus, spreading light and love on Earth through him. She was known for her generosity, wisdom, kindness, and beauty inside and out. She was a great listener, an encourager and giving person. She prayed in private for friends and strangers and helped many people. She loved to cook meals for people in need.
