Margaret Marie Gilliland

Margaret Marie Gilliland, 89, of Sapulpa left to be with the Lord on June 4th, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family and friends.

Marie (which is what all her friends and family called her) was born November 18th, 1934, in Tahlequah to Willie and Pearl Ahlborn. She graduated from Sapulpa High School and began her career as a bookkeeper for a company in Tulsa. She later worked many years as the bookkeeper for a local doctor and then for a local pharmacy.

Marie met and later married the love of her life, John Gilliland, who preceded her in death. Together they raised two sons and enjoyed 50 years of marriage.

Marie was very active in the Creek County 4-H program during the time that her sons were participating. She was a lifetime member of the Sapulpa Historical Society, volunteered at the Sapulpa Public Library, was a member of the Sapulpa Chapter of the Professional Business Women's of America, and a member of the Sapulpa Lady's Elk's Club. She also volunteered much of her time to the St. Francis Hospice program.

In her spare time Marie enjoyed gardening, quilting, and going fishing with John and the boys. The thing that she enjoyed the most was the time that she spent playing and visiting with her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.

Marie had a compassionate and caring heart and was always willing to give a helping hand. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.

She is survived by her two sons Johnny Dewayne Gilliland from Sapulpa, and Jeff Gilliland and his wife Debbie of Mounds.

Her Grandchildren, Chad Gilliland, Jennifer and husband Brock Roorda, of Colleyville, TX. Chris Gilliland and his wife Arianna, of Fort Gibson, OK.

Marie has 4 Great Grandchildren, Benjamin & Darcy Gilliland, and Braxton and Blaise Roorda.

Marie is preceded in death by her brother Herman and sister Barbara.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Debbie Green (Marie's best friend) for her friendship and dedication.

Services will be Wednesday, June 12th at 10:00 a.m. at Traditions Funeral Home in Kellyville, OK and interment will be at Green Hill Memorial Gardens in Sapulpa, OK.
