Michael
Ennis
April 23, 2026
Orvel Michael Ennis, 69, of Kellyville, went to be with the Lord on April 23, 2026, surrounded by his family and friends.
Being a dad can leave you reflecting on the choices you’ve made, the lessons you’ve tried to teach, and the hope that you’ve done enough to guide your children forward. Fatherhood is a journey, one that requires patience, strength, and the willingness to simply be present. Michael Ennis lived that journey fully.
Michael was born on September 26, 1956, in Sikeston, Missouri, to Orvel and Margie Ennis. He graduated from Kellyville High School and went on to dedicate 30 years of service to Norris, where he retired as a Maintenance Supervisor. He was known as a hardworking, loyal man who always found a way to provide for his family, often taking on extra work to ensure they had what they needed.
In May of 1977, Michael married the love of his life, Jeanetta Ennis. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and unwavering commitment, and were looking forward to celebrating their 49th wedding anniversary this May. Their years together were marked by countless shared adventures, often spent outdoors, exploring the mountains and trails in search of the next hunting spot. Their marriage reflected a deep appreciation for the beauty and stillness of nature. It was a life shaped by simple joys, shared passions, and a love that grew stronger with time.
Michael was a devoted member of Westside Free Will Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as a Sunday School teacher and Trustee Board member. He loved studying and reading, often creating both written and visual ways to share what God had laid on his heart. He had a deep appreciation for numbers and the meaning behind them, always seeking understanding and sharing that knowledge with others.
He was a teacher in every sense of the word, not just in church, but in life. Whether coaching little league softball, baseball, or basketball, or helping someone solve a problem, Michael was always ready to guide, encourage, and support. For his children, and many others, he was the one you called when something needed fixing. Like his own version of “who you gonna call,” Michael could fix just about anything. He knew the names of parts that most couldn’t find and always seemed to have an answer.
He also had a lighthearted side that brought joy to those around him. Michael was known for being one of the most creative “word makers,” often mispronouncing words in a way that became uniquely his own, leaving family and friends laughing and creating memories that will never be forgotten.
Michael loved the outdoors. Hunting trips and time spent in nature were some of his greatest joys, especially when shared with family and friends. He loved telling stories of those adventures, each one becoming part of the legacy he leaves behind.
More than anything, Michael loved his family. He cherished time together, from everyday moments to special occasions. As a grandfather, he found immense joy in watching his grandchildren play sports and participate in their activities. He was always there, cheering them on, supporting them, and often stepping in wherever he was needed. Now, we find comfort knowing he has the best seat in the house.
Michael’s life reminds us that being a father isn’t about having all the answers, it’s about showing up. It’s about working hard, loving deeply, and being someone others can depend on no matter the circumstance.
He leaves behind a legacy of faith, strength, and unwavering love.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Jeanetta Ennis; his children, Jeremy and wife Brandi Ennis, Melissa and husband Patrick Stone, Justin and wife Christy Ennis, Melanie and husband Scott Robinson, and Melinda and husband Brady Agee; and his cherished grandchildren, Caleb Stone, Isaac Stone, Jonah Ennis, Levi Stone, Natalie Robinson, River Ennis, Silas Stone, Noah Robinson, Nathanael Ennis, and Jordan Ennis. He is also survived by his sisters, Pam Hedman and husband Roy, Sheila Bryan and husband Greg, and Lisa Phillips, mother-in-law Evonne McVeigh, brother-in-law Tommy McVeigh and wife Shirley, brother-in-law Jimmy McVeigh and wife Terri along with a host of extended family and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orvel and Margie Ennis, and his grandchildren, Luke Andrew Stone, Jordan McGuire Ennis and baby Robinson, father-in-law Bolin McVeigh.
“Dad, you taught us how to work hard, how to stand strong, and how to care for family. These words are just a small way of reminding you how much you mean to us.”
Michael will be deeply missed, but his example, his love, and the lessons he shared will continue to guide all who knew him.
