Milton Amo (Dutch) Ausmus
Milton Amo (Dutch) Ausmus was born July 27, 1932, at home in Sapulpa, OK. He was the 4th child out of seven born to Amo and Irene Ausmus. On May 27, 2024, the Lord walked him to his Heavenly home where he was united with his mother, father, brother John and the rest of his family and friends.
Dutch graduated from Kiefer High School in 1950 and entered the Air Force in November of 1951. He served as a medic during the Korea War. He returned home to attend Connors State Jr. College and joined brothers Dude and John on the football team. Then to Tahlequah to play baseball at Northeastern State College.
Dutch played softball from 1947 to 1973. In the summer of 1955, he played on the Sapulpa Brick and Tile softball team with his three brothers and was coached by their dad. They won the 1955 Softball World Championship tournament in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He played in 10 national and world tournaments and was named All-American four Times. Dutch was inducted into the International Softball Congress Hall of Fame in 1989, in Kimberly, Wisconsin.
Dutch loved to watch the OU football teams and enjoyed going to the games. He had reserved seats for 49 years.
He had a caring and compassionate heart and was always willing to give a helping hand. He was loved and will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Amo and Irene Selsor Ausmus, and brother John Ausmus.
He is survived by sisters Ethel Davis, Winnie (Susie) Romine and husband Gary, Winona (Babe) Miller and husband Cecil; brothers Robert Ausmus, and Alfred (Dude) Ausmus; numerous nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank the Claremore Veterans Center for their excellent care and loving support of Dutch over the last 2 years.
Visitation will be from 6-8pm, Friday, May 31, 2024, at Traditions Funeral Chapel in Kellyville. Services will be 10am, Saturday, June 1, 2024, also at Traditions Funeral Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Traditions Funeral and Cremation Services.
