Obituary

We are honoring our beautiful, strong, and loving mother, Patricia M. Flynn (Heffernan), who passed peacefully on January 27, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Patti was a woman of deep faith, which guided her through life with grace, strength, and resilience. She found comfort and hope in her beliefs, and her kindness and generosity were a reflection of the love she carried in her heart.

She was a daughter born October 16, 1965, in Port Chester, New York, to her predeceased parents, James and Veronica "Lucky" Heffernan. She was a longtime resident of the "Ridges" in Stamford, Connecticut. She was also a devoted sister and best friend to Kerri Curtin (Heffernan).

Patti attended The Willard School, TOR, and graduated from Westhill High School in Stamford, CT. She marched with the Springdale-Silhouettes Drum & Bugle Corps and was always the first to dance an Irish jig at family gatherings. Her generous spirit led her to advocate for SIDS awareness as "Sunshine the Clown."

At a young age, Patti found the love of her life in her surviving husband of 40 years, Thomas L. Flynn Sr. She loved to say, "I snuck him some extra fries, and the rest was history." Together, they built a life filled with love, faith, and resilience, serving as a shining example of commitment for generations to come.

They raised four amazing children—. First was Caroline Flynn-Côté, her God-given daughter, who married her high school sweetheart, John Côté Jr. In 1988, they welcomed Thomas Louis Flynn Jr., a kind and loving pillar of strength, who married Roberta Moga Móra. In 1990, they welcomed Andrew Jordan Flynn, a wise, talented athlete, and devoted caregiver, who later married Melissa Youngblood. On August 22, 1991, they welcomed their beautiful Sarah Elizabeth "Lilbit" Flynn, who sadly passed in infancy from SIDS. The Flynn family also opened their home to foster children in times of need.

Patti was the beloved "Aunt Patti" to her nieces and nephews, MacKenzie, Dylan, and Spencer Curtin, who selflessly helped in her final years. She was also cherished by her nephew John Flynn Jr., son of her predeceased brother-in-law, John, and Rose Flynn.

While raising her family, Patti also built a successful career as a Director of Administration and Human Resources at renowned firms, including GableGotwals, Ryan, Ryan & DeLuca, DayPitney, and Shipman & Goodwin. She was known for her strong leadership, dedication, and the ability to bring out the best in others.

Her greatest joy was becoming a grandmother. She welcomed her first grandson, Hudson John Côté, in February 2015, followed by her granddaughter, Brynn Alexandra Côté, in July 2017. In March 2018,she was blessed with Joshua Jericho Flynn, followed by his sister, Sofia Marie Flynn, in October 2020. Patti adored her grandchildren, and they brought endless happiness to her life.

Even in the face of ALS, Patti remained brave, selfless, and full of hope. She never stopped advocating for a cure and faced every challenge with courage and determination. Her strength was a testament to the love she had for her family and her unwavering belief in the power of God.

Patti was also predeceased by her beloved in-laws, John and Blanche Flynn, her brother-in-law, George Flynn, and other cherished members of the Heffernan and Studwell families.

A private service will be held, with a celebration of Patti's life to take place in Oklahoma on Monday, February 3, 2025, at 1:00 PM(4016 North 34th Street, Broken Arrow, OK 74014) and in Stamford, CT, at a later date. Please contact the family directly for details.

Patti's legacy of love, strength, and kindness will live on in all who were blessed to know her. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit will remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
