Obituary for Philip Ray Cosby
August 8, 1963 – July 26, 2025
With profound sadness and a sense of gratitude for his life, we announce the passing of Philip Ray Cosby, who left us peacefully on July 26, 2025, at 5:30 AM at the home of his daughter in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, after a hard-fought battle with liver cancer. He was 61 years old. Philip's strength, humor, and love for his family defined his life, and though we mourn his loss, we celebrate the joy he brought to all who knew him.
Philip was born on August 8, 1963, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, to Bill and Barbara Cosby. He was the youngest of three boys, joining his brothers Todd Cosby and the late Doug Warren. Growing up in a household where sports were king.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Philip's heart belonged to two teams: the University of Oklahoma Sooners and the Pittsburgh Steelers. No matter the season, he could always be found cheering on his teams, and cold beer in hand.
Philip spent over 20 years working at Ameriflex Hose and Supplies, where he was not just an employee, but a valued and cherished part of the team. He loved his work, and even more, he loved his coworkers, who became like family to him. Philip's work ethic and friendly nature made him a beloved figure in the company, and his absence will be deeply felt by those who worked with him over the years.
In his downtime, Philip enjoyed simple pleasures. He was a fan of cooking shows, mainly "Diners, Drive ins, and Dives".
In September 1988, Philip married Sherri Ross. Together, they had two children: Melissa, born in August 1989, and Kyle, born in December 1993. Philip adored his children, and his love for them was evident in everything he did. His grandchildren—Allison, Aiden, Landon, Emma, Caleb, Kenneth, Shaylee, Aubrey, Liam, Matthew Jr., and Maverick—were the lights of his life. Philip took immense pride in being a grandfather, and every moment spent with his grandkids was a treasure he held close to his heart.
Philip was known for his straightforwardness, his sharp sense of humor, and his ability to make anyone laugh. He was often the life of the party, always quick with a joke or a funny observation. Philip never hesitated to help those in need and his generosity knew no bounds. Above all, Philip loved his family and friends more than anything else.
Philip is survived by his brother Todd and his wife Lanay, daughter Melissa and her husband Matthew Rowland, son Kyle Cosby, and his nieces and nephews—Jymmi, Erin and Luke. His girlfriend Shelia, His best friend Sherri and His grandchildren—Allison, Aiden, Landon, Emma, Caleb, Kenneth, Shaylee, Aubrey, Matthew Jr., and Maverick—will carry on his memory, and his love for them will never fade.
He was preceded in death by his beloved father, Bill; his mother, Barbara; his brother, Doug; and his grandson, Liam, who we know greeted him with open arms in heaven. Though his presence will be deeply missed on earth, we take comfort in knowing he is reunited with those he loved most.
Philip Ray Cosby lived life fully, laughed often, and loved deeply. He touched the lives of all who knew him, and his memory will continue to bring smiles and fond memories for years to come.
Rest in peace, Dad, Papa, Brother, and friend. We know you're up there with a cold beer in hand, watching the game. You will forever be in our hearts.
