IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rebecca Jane
Cloud
August 17, 1937 – July 31, 2020
Rebecca Jane Cloud, 82, of Bristow, stepped into Heaven and met her Lord and Savior on July 31, 2020. She was born August 17, 1937, in Bristow to Charles Dalton Saul and Hattie Root Saul. She attended elementary school through the 8 th grade at Pine Hill Elementary and continued her education at Kellyville where she graduated from high school in 1955. Rebecca loved school where she excelled in academics, 4H, and basketball.
Rebecca continued her education taking classes at Draughon's Business School in Tulsa. That is when she met the love of her life, Gene Cloud and they were married October 6, 1957, at her Aunt Ella's home. To this marriage were born two children, daughter Daphne Applegate Carrier and son Darren Eugene Cloud. Rebecca knew the important role a mother has in their children's life and because of that, she chose to stay home and raise her children. Gene's work in sales allowed the family to live in Oklahoma most of the time but Houston, Texas for a few years. The sales industry brought the family back to Oklahoma in 1973 when they moved to Olive. That is where the family has made their home for the last 47 years. After the children graduated from high school and Rebecca knew they were on a good path in life she decided she was ready to go back to work. She went to work for Bud Livingston at Kato Operating Company in Bristow, Oklahoma. Rebecca adored Bud and she loved working for Kato. She was a very loyal and dedicated employee. She worked there for more than 20 years until her retirement. She and Bud retired at the same time and so they went out the door together.
Rebecca was an amazing seamstress sewing most of the clothes she and Daphne wore. She even sewed shirts for Gene and Darren occasionally. She also loved to crochet, knit, and cross stitch. She learned to sew when she was in the second grade. Her family would go into town via the horse drawn wagon. Her dad would get feed in feed sacks and Rebecca would tell him which sacks to get. She would pick out the best ones because once they were empty, she would make clothes with them for herself and her only sibling, Charlene. She was also an amazing cook and was well known for her homemade biscuits. Her brother-in-law Mel still talks of Rebecca's wonderful biscuits.
One of the greatest joys of Rebecca's life was her 4 grandkids. She was known to them and many others as Mamaw. She went to all their games and any events. She was so proud of all 4 of them. Rebecca was also an avid sports fan and loved to watch all different sports on tv, especially OU women's basketball which she had a great fondness for, it brought back great memories of her time playing the game. Rebecca was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
Rebecca is survived by her loving husband Gene of the home; children Daphne Applegate Carrier and her husband Norris of Olive and Darren Eugene Cloud and his wife Debra also of Olive; grandchildren Jarred Applegate, Garrett Cloud and his wife Candace, Makaela Bagwell and her husband Hayden and Braden Cloud and his wife Paige; 10 great-grandchildren Braiton, Gavin, Eastyn, and Wyatt Applegate, Abbi, Rylie, and Jordyn Cloud, Grayson and Brantley Cloud; and Silas Bagwell; and sister Charlene Dunlap and her husband Sam of Bristow. She is also survived by many other family members and a host of friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Charles Dalton Saul and Hattie Root Saul and her beloved son-in-law James Applegate who she adored.
