Robert James Haney 71, of Mounds, passed from this life on Saturday, January 9, 2021. He was born on October 29, 1949 in South Gate, California to Omar and Freida Birdsong Haney. Robert joined the United States Marine Corps and while enlisted he completed high school. He served a tour in Vietnam from 1969-1970. The time he spent in the Marine Corp instill a lifetime of Patriotism. He was a proud American and a proud Marine Corps Veteran. Robert met and married the love of his life, Betty Sue Keizer on November 26, 1976. He worked as a machinist until his retirement. He enjoyed music and could play the keyboards, guitar and drums all by ear. He was also a talented singer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and shooting targets. He like pushing trees down on his property with his tractor. He also liked meeting up with his buddies and drinking coffee. Robert was loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Sue of the home; his two sons James Haney of Koontz, Texas and Shawn Haney of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandchildren Cheyenne Haney Hall, Tameike Strange, Zane Haney, Heather Lee, Jay Brenner, Calley Haney Walton and Brooke Haney; sister Peggy Grotts of Jenks, Oklahoma; brother Bill Haney and his wife Judy of Sapulpa, Oklahoma and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Waiting at Heaven's gates are his parents Omar and Freida Haney; granddaughter Piper Haney and brother-in-law Bob Grotts.
There will be a visitation with family on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 between 6-8pm at Traditions Funeral Chapel, 35 S. Main, Kellyville, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 2:00pm at the South Heights Assembly of God Church in Sapulpa. Burial will follow with Military Honors at Mounds Cemetery, Mounds, Oklahoma.
Arrangement are under the direction of Traditions Funeral and Cremation Services in Kellyville.
