Sonjia Elaine Hunt was born on May 15, 1940, in Maywood, California to Opal Lucille Nickolas and Thomas Evan Henderson. On October 6, 1955, she married Dale Calvert. She is survived by three children from that marriage Dale Dwayne Calvert of Porter, Oklahoma, Connie Elaine Calvert Rogers of Harrison, Arkansas and Darrell Wesley Calvert of Wickenburg, Arizona.
She is also survived by six grandchildren Nadia Marie Preister of Lake County, California, Rachel Elaine Bettge Green of Green Forest, Arkansas, Nigel Wayne Calvert of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Daniel Ryan Calvert of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Jennifer Rose Johnson of Harrison, Arkansas, and Candace Rene' Calvert of Congress, Arizona; eleven great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
Elaine is survived by her husband, James Edward Hunt of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, the love of her life, who she married, surrounded by friends and family, on June 18, 1983, in Woodward Park, Tulsa, Oklahoma. She and James were married until her death for 38 years.
Elaine was a cancer survivor, a faithful church volunteer and a devoted wife. In her younger years, Elaine was very outgoing and made friends easily. Elaine and James lived in five states during their marriage, and she became very skilled at making them a home and reinventing their lives in each of those places. They were always able to find new circles of friends and church members who they would come to regard as family.
Elaine died on January 6 th and sleeps in Christ until His soon return.
Visitation will be from 6:00pm-8:00pm, Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Traditions Funeral Chapel in Kellyville. Services will be 2:00pm, Friday, January 14, 2022, at the Broken Arrow Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 1311 N. Kenwood Dr., Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Traditions Funeral and Cremation Services, 35 S. Main, Kellyville, Oklahoma, 918-247-7373.
