Starla Kay Southerland, 82, went to be with the Lord on January 9, 2026, at her home in Sapulpa.
Starla was born September 10, 1943, in Seminole, OK to the late Theodore W. Barrett and Winifred Helen (Sims) Barrett. Upon graduation from Varnum High School, she moved to Farmington, NM where she met and married the love of her life Marlin Southerland. They recently celebrated 65 years of marriage.
Starla was an avid bowler back in the day, loved watching old western movies and enjoyed watching her boys participating in any sports they were involved in at the time. She also treasured spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She had a caring and compassionate heart and was always willing to give a helping hand. She was loved and will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son William Kyle Southerland, sisters Bobbi Reeves, Doris Freeman and Patricia Neer. She is survived by her loving husband Marlin Sr. and son Marlin Jr., his wife Marsha, two granddaughters, Hallie Neely, her husband, Joey, Sydney Young and her husband, Seth, and great grandchildren, Nora, Georgia, and Truman. Other survivors include sister June Hale and brother Ted Barrett and wife Sonia.
