IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Stephen
Gorrell
September 21, 1949 – March 9, 2022
Stephen D. Gorrell moved on from this life on March 9, 2022 surrounded by his family. Steve was born on September 21, 1949, in Oklahoma City to Robert and Donna Gorrell. He is the oldest of three children, followed by his sister Carolyn Singer and brother Bill Gorrell.
He served in the United States Navy as a First-Class Aviation Fire Control Technician and served aboard the USS Independence during the Vietnam era. After his time in the Navy, Steve was a software engineer and program manager. On December 17, 1983, he married his wife Sue Gorrell. Through this union he gained a daughter, Eve, whom he adopted.
Steve was best known for intelligence, kindness, gentleness, humor. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend.
Steve loved to play computer games, travel, fish, and play poker with his brother. But what he loved the most was making those he cared about feel loved and cared for. He gave to others freely and unreservedly. His heart was a large as his mind.
The world is a better place because of Steve's innovative mind, his compassionate heart, and his witty sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by all who love him. His kindness will live on in those lives he deeply touched.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Sue; daughter Eve; grand-dogs Casey and Opal; sister Carolyn Singer and husband Todd; brother Bill Gorrell and wife Laurie; brother-in-law Thomas Rivers and wife Patsy; nieces and nephews Sarah Clayton, Travis Clayton, Pam Hohman, and Wayne Rivers.
