Petty
December 20, 1955 – November 4, 2024
Steven Myriam Petty, age 68, of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, went home to be with the Lord on November 4, 2024, surrounded by his family. Born on December 20, 1955, in Claremore, Oklahoma, to Myriam Abner "Pete" and Betty Marie Petty. Steve grew up as an Air Force brat, making stays all over the world including Alaska and the Philippines.
Steve graduated from Claremore High School and embarked on a career as a boilermaker and firefighter with the fire brigade at Sun Oil. Over the years, he held various jobs that demonstrated his work ethic and commitment to providing for his family, eventually being medically retired in 2015.
In early 1977, Steve met the love of his life, Sherri Billings. Just six months later, they were married on June 18, 1977, beginning a beautiful journey together. This year, they celebrated an inspiring 47 years of marriage. Together, Steve and Sherri raised two children and many grandchildren.
Steve was a devoted husband, dad, and Papa who enjoyed exploring the world with his family. A true adventurer at heart, he loved cruising, especially playing cards in the casino on Deck 5, where family and friends always knew they could find him. Steve's enthusiasm for sports spanned football, baseball, softball, and racing. In his younger years, he traveled to baseball card shows with friends, amassing a cherished collection of thousands of cards, baseball bats, and memorabilia that he treasured.
Steve was known for his big heart, his love of Reese's candies, his joy in taking cruises, and his special talent for spoiling Sherri Dawn with thoughtful surprise gifts. He will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives he touched.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Betty Petty, and his beloved daughter, Shalynn.
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Sherri; his daughter and her husband, Amber and Carleton Howard; their children Deayton and partner Kyle, Keaydra and Heaydon; as well as 3 great grandchildren, Sunnie Rae Pingleton, Emili Howard and Kailen Howard; his son and his wife, Aaron and Bailie Petty; their children Jaelynn, Baeleigh, Kasen, Kooper, Kellan, and Emersyn.
