Terry Preston Ashley, a resident of Kellyville, Oklahoma, passed away March 20, 2026 after a yearlong battle with lung cancer.
Terry was born on May 8, 1953, to George Preston & Vivian (Taylor) Ashley. He had 1 sister and 2 brothers, Terry being the oldest of these.
He was a roamer all his life from the time he learned to walk. He was bad about running off when he went out to play and when our mother turned her back he was gone. It got so bad that our mother would put a belt on him, tie a rope to it, then tie the rope to the cloths line, he could still play and that way she could get things done without worrying about him leaving the yard. Today she would be arrested for that. He was like that all his life, he would come to visit and the next morning you would get up and he'd be gone.
Terry being the roamer he was probably attributed to him choosing to become a Cross Country Truck Driver. He has probably been to each of our 50 states, from North to South, East to West. He enjoyed the trucker life and the adventures along the way. During this time, he settled down long enough to have a family that included 6 children. He finally quit the long hauls and began driving locally and settled down in Roosevelt, Oklahoma in 2016 with his companion Alice. After her passing he moved back to the old home place in Kellyville, Oklahoma in 2023 and resided there until his passing.
Those who knew Terry knew he could be a pain in your side, irritating, impossible and downright difficult to deal with, then the next moment have you laughing up a storm. That was Terry !!!
He enjoyed wearing Western apparel, which is probably why he had 6 Western Hats, several boots and belts. He enjoyed camping at the lakes, roaming around, piddling, being with family and friends.
Terry was proceeded in death by his parents, 1 daughter, Amelia Ann Ashley, 1 Brother, Glenn Ashley, and his life partner of 19 years Alice Silcox.
He is survived by his children, Terry (Ann) Ashley Jr, Owen, Pennsylvania, Johnny Ashley, Fairbanks, Alaska; Brandy Ashley, Sapulpa, Oklahoma; David (Tonsie) Ashley, Sapulpa, Oklahoma; and Bridgett Ashley, Woodfield, Ohio. 1 sister, Sherry (Dean) Hopkins, Bristow, Oklahoma; 1 Brother, Dale (Toni) Ashley, Schulter, Oklahoma. 1 Daughter-in-law, Jamie Kennsington, Roosevelt, Oklahoma, 13 Grand Children, Jamie, Lyric, Edward Jr., Alanna, Sierra, Jessie, Stephanie, Brandon, Emberly, Tori, Preston Jr., Cheyenne, and Lucas, & 10 Great Grand Children. Numerous Nephews, Nieces, Cousins, Family and lifelong Friends.
A special thank you to Choice Hospice Care, the staff and especially Jodi, his nurse, who became family to us.
