Tommy Wayne Smith, 75 of Tulsa passed from this life July 17,2026.

Tommy was born August 31, 1950 in Amarillo, Texas to Elbert Smith and Juanita Smith-Denham. He was employed most of his life as a rough neck for various local and state oil field owners.

Tommy faithfully served his country in the United States Marine Corp., serving 2 tours in Vietnam. ln 1969, he served as honor guard at President Eisenhower's funeral and was the personal chef to General Platt. General Platt chose Tommy because of his attentiveness to neatness. He was awarded several medals during his enlistment in the Marine Corps.

His favorite pastime was hunting. From the time he was 8 years old his dad, along with a group of his dad's friends, took him to Colorado to deer hunt.

Even though Tommy was homebound, he made sure he made donations to Feed the Children, No Child Goes Hungry, and New Beginning Ministries Church in Sand Springs.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Elbert Smith and Juanita Smith-Denham and nephew Alan McClanahan.

He is survived by his four sisters: Norma Pullen, Sapulpa, OK; Nita McClanahan, Moore, OK; Mary Ellen Nelson, Naples Florida and Janet Perrault, Naples Florida; nieces Toni Kizer and husband Alan, Sand Springs, OK; Amy Nelson, Naples Florida and Kym James, Naples Florida; nephews John Pullen, Tulsa, OK; Dee McClanahan, Moore, OK; Albert Nelson Jr., Sand Springs, OK; Jeremy Smith, Tampa, Florida, along with great-nieces and great-nephews which he loved very much and always asked about.

Tommy was a very PROUD Marine; he would say, "once a Marine, always a Marine." Hoorah!

He will be missed by all.

A graveside service to honor his memory will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, July 24, 2026, at South Heights Cemetery in Sapulpa.
