Wickham
August 29, 1937 – October 16, 2021
Vernon Eugene Wickham 84, of Sapulpa, passed from this life on October 16, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family.
Vernon was born on August 29, 1937, in Sapulpa to Lena Elizabeth and John M. Wickham. He was the youngest of 5 sons, Jerome, Steve, William, and Johnnie, all of whom have went to be with the Lord along with the oldest of their 2 sisters Emily Ortigo.
Vernon graduated from Sapulpa High School. After graduation he married his love, Ruth Dolan. Vernon and Ruth celebrated 65 years of marriage in July. They had a long and fruitful life together as they raised 8 children. Vernon was met with open arms by their son Gary Wickham and daughter-in-law Wendy Wickham as they were called to heaven at an early age.
Vernon started working at a very early age raising chickens and selling eggs to various stores around town. He went on to work at a missile site in Sedalia, Missouri. He came back to Tulsa to work at Byron Jackson Pumps. After several years there he went back to work for the glass plant, Bartlett Collins, in Sapulpa where he retired in 2008 when they closed the plant down.
Vernon loved to travel, spending time in the country raising livestock and teaching his kids and grandkids life lessons.
Even though they did not have a lot he was always willing to give a helping hand to anyone in need. He was loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife Ruth; children Eugene and wife Sara Wickham of California, Mo., Lenora Fielden of Sapulpa, Eric Wickham of Sapulpa, Paul Wickham of Sapulpa, Frank Dolan and wife Cassie of Broken Arrow, John Dolan and wife Loren of Sapulpa; grandchildren Jennifer Young and Hayden Blankenbicker, Joshua Wickham and wife Deedra, Eric Wickham and wife Bekka, Jacob Wickham and wife Marie, Kyle Wickham, Kelsey Smalley, Gus Fielden and wife Cori, Camden Dolan, Jake Dolan, Paige Dolan, Ty Dolan, Mickey Burns and husband Tim, Lesley Potter and husband Ben, Britney David and Ashely Arnold; great-grandchildren; Alexis Shipman, Tucker Wickham, Peyton Wickham, Renlee Dolan, Rusty Fielden, Judith Fielden, Elijah Fielden, Levi and Hayden, Annibelle Smetzer, Jonah and Jordyn Wickham, Ethan and Lyla Martin and Hattie and Leighton Potter; sister Vivian Sams and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be 2:00pm, Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Traditions Funeral Chapel in Kellyville. Arrangements are under the direction of Traditions Funeral and Cremation Services, 35 S. Main, Kellyville, Oklahoma, 918-247-7373.
