Willam “Bill” Charles Wellman Jr.

William “Bill” Charles Wellman Jr., 73, passed away at his home in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, on Monday, July 27, 2026.

Bill was born in San Antonio, Texas, on October 31, 1952, at Baptist Memorial Hospital, to William Charles Wellman Sr. and Doris Katherine (Dugan) Wellman. He received his Master of Business Administration from The University of Houston-Clear Lake, in 1979, after which he spent his career working in finance in the oil industry, followed by a career in sales, where his outgoing personality and gift for conversation allowed him to build lasting friendships and relationships throughout the years.

Bill's greatest pride and joy were his two sons, whom he loved deeply. He cherished time spent with family and was always eager to share stories, laughter, and advice with those he loved.

A lifelong automotive enthusiast, Bill enjoyed working on cars and was never afraid to get his hands dirty under the hood. He was also a devoted fan of music, whether it be having the radio on, attending live shows by his favorite artists, or even catching a local band. His music tastes spanned across many genres, musicians from Willie Nelson, Garth Brooks, and Alan Jackson to ZZ Top, The Allman Brothers Band, Led Zeppelin, Lynard Skynard, and Pink Floyd. Music is a passion that he shared with both of his sons. An avid professional wrestling fan, he rarely missed an opportunity to watch a match or discuss his favorite wrestlers. Among his favorite memories were attending the birthday celebrations for Willie Nelson, a live wrestling match he attended with his sons, and numerous trips spent with family, stories he enjoyed recounting with everyone. One of Bill’s most memorable qualities was his endless curiosity and remarkable wealth of general knowledge. He loved learning about the world and was always eager to share what he knew with anyone willing to listen. Whether discussing nature, politics, medicine, history, or the latest television show, Bill could turn an ordinary conversation into an interesting lesson. Friends and family often joked that there was no topic too obscure for him to have an opinion on or a fascinating fact to share. His enthusiasm for learning and storytelling made him a joy to talk with and ensured that time spent with him was never boring.

He will be remembered for his sense of humor, friendly nature, and unwavering love for his family. Though he is gone, the love he had for his sons will remain a lasting part of his legacy, and he will be forever loved, remembered, and deeply missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents William Charles Wellman Sr. and Doris Katherine Wellman, and his brother Robert “Bob” Wellman.

He is survived by his sons Anthony and Nicholas Wellman, sister-in-law Pamela Wellman, and nephews Robert and Douglas Wellman, among many other family members and treasured friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 3, at Traditions Funeral Chapel.
